Crosstalk Feature or Engine FX like Studio One 3.2

I think the new Studio One 3.2 Engine FX feature that also has Crosstalk Emulation could be a game changer for Analog Console Emulation.

Bakers, it would be amazing to see this in Sonar! :)

It essentially exists in the Pro Channel already (Bus and Track Console Emulators).

I don't think those have a cross-talk aspect... do they?   I thought they were more about channel level behavior; saturation/distortion/harmonics.

Either way though, I don't personally have a desire for intentional cross-talk myself.   I get the console emulation aspect, and I like what the current PC modules do.   But after reading how muted tracks "bleed" into the mix (events must be muted instead) I just think...  nah, probably not for me.     But hey, it seems to be a popular topic!

The Pro Channel is not even anywhere close to what Studio Ones Mix Engine FX is, not even the same thing. Pro Channel is just like an FX bin, Studio Ones mix engine FX is integrated deep in the core of the program and not just like an FX sitting on top. Go have a read up about it, it's awesome.

I have to say I find the whole concept slightly amusing.  The manufactures of audio reproduction equipment of any real worth spend money on eliminating Crosstalk.  Mixing console manufactures spend thousands on developing an environment that eliminates crosstalk within their box.

Interesting that this assertion is accepted on face value without any testing. I have Studio One 3 Professional and I have read this same point yet no one asks if it matters where the simulation is in the signal chain. Its an assertion as far as I can tell with no proof offered.

Agree.

DAW makers should feel free to build any features they think there's a market for, and users should feel free to use DAWs whatever way they like.

That said, this is a silly feature that will not improve a single mix in any way whatsoever. I think it represents the tipping point of the fetishisation of fake analogue into the realm of utter foolishness. THERE, I'VE SAID IT.

We're right on the verge of adding Mackie, Soundcraft and Behringer modes to console emulation modules. I think I'm going to get into VST dev and make a crackling cable plug in, for that authentic crappy gear experience.

How about a BadChannel feature, where every now and then, a channel just goes dead? And you have to solve a puzzle-based Soldering plug-in to get it back up. Authentic!

I thought the new PT13 already had this stuff.  See this

On a more serious note, I saw a video on that feature last night and there are 3 controls on that plug-in.  One for crosstalk, one for noise and one for something else.  They seemed like a waste of code to me.

Can't wait for bad bias plugins and oxidisation plugins.
