Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin - Any New Feedback/Reviews?
Due to an untreated room and all of that, I primarily mix with cans. I have two sets of headphones that Sonarworks supports, the Sony MDR-7506 and the AKG K240 Studio. There is a 21-day free trial, so I'll go for that, and I read a few threads on this plugin, watched two video reviews, mostly positive. Just wondering if there's any additional scoop from y'all. Thanks.

Been using it since they added my KRK's... it's awesome, really helps getting a better eq on the final mix. If you're using cans, it's a no brainer... cheap and effective... This is the opinion of all of us who've commented on this in the past... try a google search... lots has been said on this already. Oh, and ur ears should tell you all you need to know... just remember to disable the plug when exporting...

Ditto what Vastman said. It took my ATH-M50's to where they should be and helps the mix translate better overall...love it!

Also been using it with my Sennheiser HD650 cans which they support. Definitely made a difference in my final mixes.

I agree. I bought a pair of ATHs and this software really helps. It helps you hear those little problems. I use it with MCompare and IMO it helps get better mixes.

Agree to all. I bough the plugin with the AKG K240 calibrated from them. It is awaseome the clarity and flat response you could get with the plugin. I have two aKG K240 headphones, one calibrated by Sonarworks, and one that I use with the average response curve. In my personal opinion, there is an improvement with the calibrated headphones so if I were you I would send my headphones for calibration or I would buy the plugin with calibrated headphones. Just my 2c

I bought a pair of the REALLY CHEAP ($30.00 on Amazon) Superlux HD681s because they have a profile for them. I can say that when I turn off the plugin the superlux phones are a little on the annoying side with boomy bass. I am used to Sennheiser (Lower end HD210s). The Supeluxs with the plugin engaged sound very smooth. I think I might pull the $69.00 trigger. I have a couple weeks left on the trial to go...

Transformed the way I mix! Totally worth the cost. I stalked them for months for them to add the KRK headphones. Great team to work with. Very customer centric.

Send them an email and ask them to include those headphones. That's how the KRK got include. They are a great group of people to work with.

I was leaning towards the plugin alone and just using the 'average' curve. Now I'm not so sure....

I have AKGs and I've found mixing to be easier for me since getting this plug. I can hear the low end much more clearly. I would recommend that you use supported headphones though. It's kinda the whole point.

I did and the response that I received was that they have no plans unless more people request it.

I have a confusion : You have two similar headphones - one is calibrated other is not? I don't know about this software, as I am also looking for headphone for mixing so trying to understand. Oh.. sorry to hear that. The other option is to send them your headphones but that's quite the hassle..

Sonarworks Headphone calibration plugin works with an average calibration profile (with a precision of +-3dB) for several headphone models or with personal calibration profiles which are created measuring your headphones and creating an specific calibration profile for it with a precision of +-0.9dB. You can use either calibration system, it is up to you. In order to use the average calibration profile you just need to buy or use one of the supported headphones. In order to get the personalized calibration profile you must send your headphones to Sonarworks so they can take the measures for it and create the calibration profile, or you can buy from them an already calibrated headphone. I had a K240 that I bought several years ago and used it with the average calibration profile. I was pretty happy with the results so I pull the trigger when I receive an offer from Sonarworks for buying from them an already calibrated K240 plus the headphones plugin. I received the calibrated K240 headphones and compared it with my old ones and I found that the individual calibration profile makes an important difference, mostly in the bass response. Something interesting is that the calibration curve for my individually calibrated headphone it is different for the right and left side, which makes sense to me. The precision you get with this is awesome. I can fully recommend the individually calibrated headphones if you can afford it.

Thank you very much Patriciocs. You explained me so well. I didn't have the idea that every single headphone can be calibrated individually if we send them to Sonarworks. From you suggestion I feel that it is better to buy calibrated headphone rather than buying and sending to them for calibration. Regards Snehankur

Does anyone use it for general listening pleasure or do you just use it for mixes? I use ARC2 on my monitors and it's so effective that I set up Pedalboard2 and VAC so that I can route all of my system audio through it. I'm thinking I do the same with my cans using this plugin.

Was it you who turned me onto the whole VAC/Pedalboard thing all those months ago? If so then many thanks! I use it every day. I even have a little script set up in my taskbar to turn it all on and off with a click.
