Welcome to the forums Marled,
you might not like what I have to say but here goes..
both of your answers are trivial,
the (Edit > Select > From=Start) is a must.
sonar has no idea what you want to capture and many times artists want to export a small clip of their final mixes. so this function is needed to select the points at which you want to export.
its simple, select edit= from here
then go to the end of your content and select it again edit=to here.
part 2 is what it is, bring in both tracks, pan them hard R / hard L.
export to stereo (don't forget to select your ""(Edit > Select > From=Start)""

you could also do internal bounces to speed it up.
it would be nice if we could customize everything to our liking, I think we can both agree on that.
but the program (Sonar) really needs to be told what to do, there for we must enter in some details / select data points and export stereo tracks.
I used to use a Neo myself for tracking drums, export took hours on the Tascam for 8 simple tracks. it sucked. but it worked, until I bought a 1818 Focusrite (I sold the Tascam to fund the Focusrite)
happy jamming man
