(SOLVED) Not getting any input or output Sonar

I had posted this in the Sonar section but thought I'd post this here since this is more of a hardware issue I suspect. Are any of you using this particular mother board?

on a new pc I just built. Fresh O/S and apps install.
specs: ASUS H170M System board
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @3.20GHz 16GB Ram
SIIG NN-E20012-S2 Firewire card TI chipset. I was using this card in my HP so I know it works and Assume it's compatible with this new system.
Here's what's going on and I want to note that this issue is not just with Sonar, Same with Studio One 3. I also unistalled Sonar and re-installed it.
interface Saffire pro 24
If I plug in my guitar to the Focusrite (doesn't matter which input)I get an input signal on the interface and in Mixcontrol and can hear what I'm playing through my monitors. When I open a blank project and insert a new track, arm it to record there is no signal, meter activity or sound in Sonar. Even if I use Sonar's input monitor instead of mixcontrols. Also There is a 4 or more second lag from when I click to arm the track.
If I open a new project, add a track and import a guitar track for example (wave file) when I press the space bar or click the play on the transport there is a 4 second delay then platback begins but there is no sound or meter activity. Sonar will also white out and I have to close it. When that happens I have to reboot because Sonar won't load again.
I hope you guys can help me figure this out. I'm in a boat without a paddle.
Thanks

Since posting this in the Sonar section I un-installed the Focusrite and installed my old Presonus Firebox. I had better results as far as communication with Sonar and Studio One but the sound is extremely distorted and dragging. I tried everything I could think of. Disabling all on board audio, video and installed my NVidia graphics card to see if that made a difference but it didn't. I don't know what the Focusrite driver and or firewire cardcould be conflicting with.

Is it just with SONAR that you get no I/O? Or does this also apply to, say, Windows Media Player or YouTube?

Focusrite Firewire ports are apparently prone to damage from disconnecting or reconnecting while powered on. Although I've accidentally done it without incurring damage, Focusrite goes out of their way to warn against unplugging the cable without shutting off the box first.

But if your issue is with the FW connection (on either end) or the cable, that would affect all audio into and out of the computer, not just SONAR.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks bit. I found that the my SIIG firewire card just doesn't like this ASUS system board or the other way around. I bought another card, Vantec with a VIA chipset and it works just fine now. I spent 24 hours total trying to figure out why this was happening. Tried everything imaginable. I figured since these firewire cards are cheap, $25 bucks it would be worth wasting it as a last effort to figure this out since there are compatibility issues between hardware. all is well now thank god.

I am not sure if Focusrite has resolved this yet, but the last I knew the VIA chipset and Win10 were not working together. Just keep that in mind to research before jumping to Win10.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

Thanks for that tip. I'm holding off Win 10 as long as I can. Hopefully these type of things will be sorted out.
