Audient USB2 interfaces

 
Does anyone own either of the Audient USB audio interfaces? I hear great things about them in professional reviews, and Audient's own videos suggest they sound pretty damn good, but I'd be curious to hear from any Cakewalk folks who have used one.
 
I've been considering moving to a newer interface. I work mainly in the box, with occasional vocal recording usually done a track at a time, so a solid two channel unit with a couple of pres seems ideal. The Apollo Twin and RME Babyface are both on my current short list, however the ID22 caught my eye the other day. Apparently the pres are outstanding and the conversion is very good...anyone here had a chance to try one out? I searched the Cakewalk forums, but didn't find much on them, so far.

The Audient units are good - people here and elsewhere that seem to know their stuff speak well of the quality.  They were part of that first generation "premium" units, prosumer or whatever you want to call them.  I've got the TASCAM US-7000, and it is an excellent-sounding unit.  Great preamps (I love my transformer-based pres but these work well) and excellent conversion.  Bang for buck they are great, even if they cost twice as much - but they are only $400.
 
No MIDI and the latency can be higher than RME, but the drivers are steady and TASCAM has their own driver coders these days and put out updates regular-like, which is good.
 
I've been using the new TASCAM 20x20, and it sounds just about as good.  No problems working with it, so if I didn't have the money I'd be OK with using one of their cheaper units - the 4X4 or whatever it is called.  The A x B series (not the 7000) all use the same components and drivers and are very high quality.

Yeah, Audient's pres seem to get near universal acclaim, and the ones in the ID22 are the same as those in the asp800 and the Audient consoles. My primary concern is the quality of conversion, and the stability of the drivers.
 
Right now, the Babyface is sort of where I'm leaning, simply because I've heard nothing but good things about RME's drivers and support, and their converters are supposed to be solid. But if Audient has the same driver and conversion quality, with great mic pres thrown into the mix, I'd seriously consider their stuff.

Thanks. That is the exact sort of information I was looking for. I noticed that the ID22 Windows drivers had arrived much later than the Mac ones -- the initial early reviews mentioned that. That makes me a bit nervous. And if they don't always stick with a product for a solid length of time, well that doesn't turn my crank either -- I am the proud owner of a V-Studio 700 system, and I am stilled irked that Roland bailed on us. The ID22 isn't nearly as expensive, of course, but I've had my fill of outdated driver hacks and unexpected obsolescence.
