Windows 10 + Sonar Platinum -> cpu maxin out

I'm having issues with my CPU getting too much load. The meters reveal that only the first core is pushing hard. I thought Windows 10 should be way better on dividing the load compared to Win7. My project has one instance of omnisphere which contains seven instruments. I hear "farts" and windows task manager reveals that the CPU is going to 100%. Rising the buffer size doesn't help. Never had problems with CPU power before. The CPU is I7-2600k.
 
Any ideas?

Maybe roll back to Manchester and see what happens?

Are you using Omnisphere in multi-mode?  I was never sure whether it was better to run it in multi, or just insert a new instance for each patch with a single stereo out - and I read somewhere that the latter approach can produce less demand on the processor (somewhat counter-intuitively).
 
My setup is similar(ish) to yours in the CPU department and I can normally have 5 or so instances of Omnisphere plus Kontakt, Arturia synths, audio tracks as well as numerous plugs without breakups.
 
<EDIT> I'm not on the latest SPLAT release btw (Manchester I think).  Also, I don't disable anti-virus or any other services because it is always connected, and when I get bored I need to quickly jump into Elite:Dangerous!

Have you made sure that core parking is turned off?

 
I never even knew such thing exists. I checked my power management setup and seems like the CPU maxing went away. :)

Turning off Core parking does come to mind. There are already a few threads on this here.  Also turning off all the obvious Windows 10 resource drains like Defender, Anti-Virus, live tiles, etc.

I've always had my antivirus and firewall software on without conflicts. Is Windows 10 defender particularly bad? I used ZoneAlarm before but it doesn't work well in Win10.

I'm using multi. Wow. Didn't know it could be lighter to use separate instances. Definitely will try using Omnisphere that way since I find simple instrument tracks much easier to handle. BTW I'm using Kontakt and Arturia synths as well so we're indeed having quite similar setup. :)

What audio card are you using? Update your drivers for win 10.
There is also a way to divide the cores more evenly.
Go to preferences / Config / set thread count to 1 less then your core. set Enable set thread  idle  process to false.

I would double check this using the Windows Taskbar performance / resource monitoring.  My first core often shows higher than the others in the Sonar meter, but not when verified in Windows, where it's sometimes even lower.
