Clean Windows 10 install: Do I have to install the chipset Drivers from mfg?

I have a new AMD build. I clean installed Windows 10. Everything seems to be working well.
Device Manager shows everything OK and no missing or questionable drivers.
Do I have to go to the AMD site and download and install the chipset drivers or has Windows taken care of this for me?

Hard to tell. Usually, retail motherboards and PC's come with a drivers disk.

In many (all that I've seen) cases Windows will install chipset drivers.  If the chipset drivers were not installed, there would be devices that are not working.

@Fireberd: Thanks for the verification. I assumed this but needed to hear it from someone with experience just to be sure.

@SuperG: Thanks and yes I have a disk but it also installs bloatware that I am trying to keep off the machine.

The machine is running good with only 39 processes running in the background at idle. Now I will commence to install the audio driver, DAW, etc.

The drivers that Windows installs may not be the optimum drivers for your particular setup, nor may the drivers that shipped with the motherboard on a disc. It is always a good idea to check the manufacturer's website to see if there are more recent drivers available. there. Firebird is right that if there were no drivers installed with Windows, things might not work at all, but the fact that they are working does not guarantee that they are working as well as they might, and older or generic drivers might still have problems that are addressed in newer versions.

Six of one, half dozen of another, here. No one I know really checks a MFR website for updated on-board chipset and peripheral drivers. Windows update is your friend.

You should check the mb makers website for updated chipset drivers. Windows will install functioning drivers, but only generic drivers at best. Some features of the chipset won't be available with generic drivers.

And install them right after windows finishes installing/updating before any other drivers are installed.

Win 10, on all my three systems and all the client systems I support installed the correct vendor chipset drivers.  There are no "generic" chipset drivers like the generic, basic function, High Definition audio drivers Windows will install.  Windows also installed the correct vendor drivers for USB, NIC and Video.

The manufacturers sites usually have old out dated drivers.  e.g. the Intel motherboard chipset driver on the ASRock site for my motherboard is 4 years old.  The chipset driver that Win 10 installed is the latest, according to the Intel driver check utility.

When I install Win 10 on my system, it did not load the updated ADM drivers for my chipset. It also did not load the latest drivers for my video card.

However, it did load the latest Realtek Audio drivers!

Strange.  I work several computer forums including the win 10 forum   tenforums.com
and just the exact opposite is usually the case on an initial install.

i always install the latest drivers from the manufacturer... I upgraded to Win 10 early and the mfg did not have a good driver for the video card, so the Win driver worked until NVidia put one out.  Sometimes the new mfg driver (esp video) can cause issues, so I usually save some old ones, but the mobo drivers aren't usually updated often, so i use them.

You want to install the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.
Don't install from the CD that comes with the motherboard... as it's likely been sitting in a warehouse for months (meaning those drivers are old).
