Metronome will not... stay... off

Don't want the metronome on during recording.  It's currently on by default when Sonar X3 opens.  Tried turning it off, then using this to overwrite the existing Normal.cwt template - to no avail.  Also tried going into Edit>Preferences>Project>Metronome and unchecking the box by Recording, then hitting Apply, then OK.  Again saved over the Normal.cwt template.  No difference.  Metronome is still always on when Sonar opens.
 
The template I'm saving over is located here:
 
C:\Users\(Me)\Documents\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5 Producer\Sample Content\Normal.cwt
 
Is that the correct one?

    you have to go to your folder locations and see where the templates are located to see if that is the correct one.

    Ah, glad I asked then.  Folder location for "the" Normal.cwt was actually C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X3 Producer\Project Templates.
     
    Thing is, I did a search of the computer for anything called "Normal", yet it only found the one cwt file in the location listed in my original post.  Weird.  Yet it's right there on the same drive...
     
    Anyway, thanks!  Not only turned off the metronome but also got me a default layout where the frickin' Master Volume is easily seen and reachable.
