Drag across part of a clip but highlight entire clip?

When I click/drag across a clip (or group of clips) no part highlights unless I drag across the entire clip(s).  Sometimes the end of the clip is off the screen and would prefer not to have to re-zoom and then re-drag.

Is there was a to make highlight the default for a partial drag?

Thank you,

Steve

    To lasso clips, try right-click/drag

If it's not too many clips, you can ctrl+click on a clip to select it in its entirety.

To select the whole clip, right click and drag, that opens a lasso which will select the whole clip as long as the lasso touches part of the clip.

Other than that left click on the "title bar" of the clip selects the whole clip, ctrl + click makes it possible to select multiple clips.

Other than that it will always be a region selected. After all there needs to be some way to differentiate.
