Symphony #9, 4th movement
This movement utilizes the VSL Symphonic Cube orchestral library and software synths FM8, Massive, Tera and two instances of Z3TA-2. Also uses EZ Drummer for additional percussion... Made with Sonar Platinum, mixed with the Yamaha DM2000 and monitored via Adam S3a speakers. http://www.jerrygerber.com/symph9mvt4.htm

I like the synthetic sounds with the acoustic sounds. Many (many) people fail at combining the two. The composition is great. Did you want your drums to sound synthetic? You can do better with east AD percussion samples, mostly just the snare and hihat stuff (if that's a hihat). Heavyocity also has ensemble drums that sound good if you want a phalanx of snares for some odd reason.

I am satisfied with the percussion, most of which come from the VSL library and additional drum kit from EZ drummer. I guess everyone has differing ideas of what sounds good. Thanks for the kind comments... Jerry

I liked this one. Your works are always stellar. The only observation I have is that it seems like a rock song headphone mix/panning and not an orchestral mix if that makes any sense.

BTW you know what they say about symphonies #9. You probably should stick with chamber music so as not to rock the boat! OR, you could just write symphonies #9A-Z :D

Makes no sense to me, but if it does to you, that's fine...

Some truth to this. After the 9th symphony, numerous composers began decomposing ;>)

I thought I might be surprised but I wasn't. Yes, that is a compliment. I think one of the last pieces you posted here was also a mix of orchestral and electronic? If so, then this is another one in the bag. For some reason I really liked the depth of those "clap like" percussive sounds around the 2:00-2:30 mark, whatever they were. And the overall width of the mix is just great, everything has a place. At some points along the way I was imagining that if Tomita were to release something today it might sound similar to this.

Very nice Jerry!! A well done piece of art. I noticed you like to use Z3ta in many of your compositions.....I would've never imagined Z3ta being able to fit in a Symphony......until now. Well done!!
