Well, it's rather brilliant in a decadent but charming smokey cabaret-in-a-looneybin kind of way. The singing is fantastic, the playing is quite accomplished and the lyrics are intriguing, funny, sardonic and utterly confusing. Great accompaniment. For a ten minute rambling, jumpy opus, it's strangely compelling with a curiously obvious logic to it, and I found myself committed for the duration, patiently waiting nearly two minutes at a pop for the chorus to come around again so that I could stomp my foot while chanting, "Stinky big cheese." A completely unique sound and experience for me, very nicely done. Sigh. I know Kurt Vonnegut or Joseph Heller would know exactly what to say about this song.
Oh, and the mix is pretty great as well.

Holy smokes, Kevin, what a nice thing to say! I'm beaming here. (Say, if I ever do an album, how do you feel about writing the liner notes?  ) To tell you the truth, I was kind of nervous about posting this admittedly, ahem, unusual song, so getting such a nice review comes as a big relief. LJ, I wouldn't worry too much about posting whatever you'd like feedback on. Someone somewhere will generally give it a listen and provide some feedback. Sure, the more esoteric the material, the fewer comments one gets, but that's the nature of esoterica, I guess.
As far as the song goes, I would doubt its commercial viability, but as a piece of art, it certainly had an impact on me, and I suspect that's what you're after. This would make a great piece of performance art, I think. You have a certain something that's great to listen to, which does make a case for creating more "approachable" songs to broaden your appeal, but I'd also be quite proud to have something like this in my catalog. I look forward to hearing more!

I love this song. Who hasn't wanted to write a tribute to their employers at some time or another ;) ? That being said, I've been waiting to hear a song mastered by LANDR, and I think this is the weak point of the song. It sounds a tad overcompressed and bright to my ears, and I would like to hear this song breathe a bit more. But, that's a minor nit; it doesn't take away from the coolness of this recording. Maybe try the medium setting in LANDR?

geeare1 mentioned "weird and wonderful", and yup, I'd agree. I'm not sure whether there's a genre or category where this would actually fit, but honestly I don't think it matters. It has enough familiarity to make it work even with the offbeat instrument/sound choices, which BTW actually blend nicely. I think that's also down to the arrangement and mix that seem to be custom tailored for the job. Great space around everything. And the build-up of weird sounds just adds another layer to the sunny straight-jacket feel, just in time to drop off at the end. And the lyrics... are a trip.

Hi Laura , I've been trying to get over here for days … I heard the first version the night you posted it and I think your second version w the Med setting works much better. I've actually listened to your song about 4 or 5 different times and I'm happy that today I didn't have to fight the clock to squeze a post in . I'm one of these type of people that does not do a wham bam that was a "nice tune" post in a thread . Also I enjoyed your song the most today I had made the time to listen it with out any distractions . I like to try to get in the artist's head and heart to try to hear a song from the artists point of view before I come to my own conclusions … Well, I feel you are a very unique and creative person There is something about you and your music that draws me in … It could be a combination of things …your voice , the easy going way you play the guitar . It may be the off beat way you come up with lyrics that offer a different slant or perspective on a story … All I know is every time I hear you voice it has a calming effect on me … At this point I'm not even gonna try to figure it all out …I did dig your song a lot ..ruff places and all . I'm happy you have decided to start posting here on this section of the forum … I think you show a lot of potential and I feel you bring a lot to the table … The only other thing I have to say is I hope I don't have to arm wrestle with Kevin to become a member of the cult You go girl !
