One thread leads to another...

The build book has gone to print and owner so I removed the link.

I'm glad I shared it while it was mine and that it was enjoyed. Thanks for the kind comments.

Good to see you again Michael and thanks for the heart warming post......I'm sure your friend will truly appreciate the work you've put into this and on many other levels as well. I can't see the pic from my workplace, but will check it at home.

Yeh, that's a beaut! Thanks for sharing.

I am not a guitarist except in the loosest definition of the word, but I have formed many attachments to guitars over the years. I still miss my Rickenbacker 12-string. But not once have I formed an attachment to any keyboard instrument, or felt remorse after selling one on.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

That's coz your talent is not in the instrument.

Nice book concept Michael.  I also love that you kept the finish natural; you don't see enough of that anymore.  He's going to be one very happy guy!

    Steve- Thank you.

Mesh- It is a special build-enough so that not posting it just didn't seem right.

Bitflipper- You may have said it all...maybe it's when we sell one that we realize there's a bond. Been so long with one not sure when I realized it or how.

Craig-Last year Fender released a limited edition that was Oil finished Ash, black pickguard, white trims, Maple neck.
I couldn't believe the body was multi-piece and no exotic neck wood for the price they wanted...oh well...I like the oiled Ash too but think it should be one-piece.  LOL...I thought about that other thread posted a few months ago...maybe I should have cut this one piece in half and glued it back together! ( sorry, just my warped sense of humor)

Wookie-Thanks John. You too my friend.

    Beautiful! That's some serious birdseye.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Really nice. I am looking forward to looking at on the big screen later.

I am hoping it will inspire me to finish my latest stalled electric mountain dulcimer project.

Drew- Thank you. There's a grading system for woods, as you know, but I bought this board as "hand picked"-on-line. I don't understand the grading system and not sure I'd agree with it if I did. It was my first round carving it and wasn't as bad I imagined. I thought I'd have issues with filling but it worked easy enough. I have used it for fretboards and pickguards with no issues but a neck...just figured it would try to mess with me.

Glyn-Thanks and I hope it does inspire you. I know what it's like to "stall" and very cool to get a push.

Hi Bill- yeah...many reasons for not hanging tight and right. Some will probably never resolve as wished. I have kept tabs on my friends here though and was sure sending good vibes your way for the BS you were having. Hope you get back to posting some of that solo guitar work that's just nothing short of outstanding.

Beautiful, Michael. I greatly miss your guitar build threads, they were the highlight of the forum for me. I always learned a bunch. You also inspired me to do my own rebuild...a parts caster...the first I had ever attempted. I am no longer afraid to completely dissassemble a Strat and put it back together, then do my own set up.

I hope that you continue to share your builds, they are inspirational.

Hi Michael!  Good to see you here! I've missed you and your guitar builds - they are special!

I'm not a guitarist in any real sense either, but I do have a deep appreciation for them and the talent it takes not only to play them, but also the skill and talent it takes to build beautiful instruments like you do!

    cheers to you friend!

Mike- In truth you haven't missed but a few. They were for me and both were loaded with me trying new things. Fortunately I got to learn and the guitars did work out. I keep them handy by my DAW. (only Strat styles I have with HB's)
    What a compliment Mike-thank you.

Hi Reece! Very glad you enjoy them. I have to say...you didn't mention "luck" LOL. I do feel it's a factor in my case.

    Hi,
    Thank you Mosh. :)

Bapu- thank you and to think...you really started all this. You were the first and we know there's only one first.

    Thanks Bob.
