Solved: Someone Explain This to Me??

I purchased Sonar Platinum on January 21, 2015. One year, monthly subscription.
As of February 14, 2016, I've made 14 (fourteen) payments.
According to My Membership page details, I'll be making one more payment on March 21, 2016. Total payments will then be 15 (fifteen).
And apparently, my membership runs out on April 5, 2016.

So, I bought a one-year subscription (last time I checked, one year was 12 months) but I'm paying for fifteen months.
And since the special renewal price date got changed from late March to the end of February without any notice, I can't renew for the special price.
What exactly am I getting for the extra three payments I've made?
Why was my membership extended for three months without my being aware of it (or being asked if I wanted it)?
And why was the special renewal price period shortened without an email notification being sent? Lengthened without notice is one thing, but shortened?

Needless to say, I'm annoyed, so please don't suggest I take it up with Cleverbridge.

I got emails about the renewal dates. They did send some. Perhaps not to you for some reason.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

These are actually user forums, however Cakewalk folks DO read threads/posts in the Store forum pretty often.  I believe someone will work with you to resolve whatever issues are there with your account.

Best of luck and speed in getting it all resolved,

There are no guarantee that you will every get a response from somebody with the authority to resolve this. You need to directly contact them via phone, email or problem report form if you want something done. If you vent here it will do nothing for you.

My experience with support has been very good and I encourage you to contact them.

Just hints for original questions:

1) monthly membership has no automatic end. I have not found any explicit statements about that, but that is assumed. You are just a member for another month when you pay for another month. That can be 1 month, 1 year or 10 years. That continues till you explicitly ask to cancel your membership.

2) after 12 month continuous membership you can continue to use the product even in case you cancel. You will not get any updates then, but all previous updates are available. Theoretically after 12 month you had to get not expiring binaries, the same as annual members get from the beginning

3) after 12 payments you had to get discount monthly price automatically

The procedure is still in tuning, if something is different in your case try to call them. The forum and e-mail sometimes work and sometimes not.

Okay, I now see what's going on.

I thought my membership would automatically stop after 12 months. Apparently, it automatically gets extended unless I explicitly cancel.

Seriously? You get recharged if you do not explicitly cancel your membership on the "buy outright" program?

Actually, that's par for the course with most subscription software - automatic renewal or continuation.. It's most noticeable when you pay by the month, but not so much when you pay annually. For instance my Norton subscription payment only comes up once a year - they don't do monthly.

Monthly membership function like a software subscription during the first 12 months. That it is like a magazine subscription. But it is a "membership" from payments perspective. If you are a member in some organization/club you also normally have explicit cancel procedure to stop, right?

I would think so. I mean most annual subscriptions have a feature to disable automatic renewal.

I finally got my account straightened out. Switched from monthly to annual so there's no ambiguity and no automatic carry-over for a second year. Thanks to Lars on phone/email support for going to bat for me with management. If Lars wants to run for president (and if I were American) he'd have my vote.

VERY happy you got it all straightened out.  They really have tried to expedite any store/purchase/account issues pretty consistently, once they moved to this payment model for Sonar.

I would suggest you add something like 'Solved' to the subject line of your original post for this thread, so that folks can see up front that there was a resolution to the thread.  That helps others who are searching for dealing with similar situations, and also helps others not read a bunch of posts in a thread - with the intention of helping - to find out that the issue had been resolved.  Thanks, and again glad you have it worked out. :)
