Support for multi-out VST's in instrument tracks

This FR is for an update to Sonar's instrument tracks to support setting the virtual output channels of multi-out VST's. This will enable each virtual output channel pair of the VST to be represented by a single instrument track w/ both MIDI and audio data and controls (just like a single out VST).

Sonar's instrument tracks do not allow for setting the virtual output channel on multi-out VST's like Battery and Kontakt. You are stuck w/ the VST's default output channel pair (usually called something like "main 1/2"). This dictates that if you want separate MIDI tracks for the instrument parts, you have to fall back to the old school MIDI/audio track pairs that were the only option back in the days when instrument tracks didn't exist. This sucks because it doubles your track count and decentralized MIDI and audio data and controls for each part.

As far as I recall it's only the Simple Instrument track option that do what you describe.

Check for separate midi track and create outputs for all VST outputs.

In Sonar, compared to many daws, all synths end up in synth rack and you can change and expand at any time later.

Or is your request for the newer Add Track- feature?
Haven't used Sonar in year almost, so I may be ignorant.

Sonar has always bee multitimbral type if you need it - so that unsucks, kind of.

Doesn't this already happen? How about when the Session Drummer is inserted? You can choose multi-outs.

I believe that the OP wants this functionality to be added to Simple Instrument Tracks.

The way it would work is when you create a single-out VST and choose "instrument track", you'd get what is now called a "simple instrument track". When you create a multi-out VST and choose "instrument track", there'd be a picker to choose the virtual output pair. The default would be main 1/2, so if you do nothing, again you'd get what is now called a "simple instrument track".

The new Add Tracks dialog would let you add multiple instrument tracks and choose the virtual output for each.

There would also be a picker on the column header for an instrument track to set the virtual output.
