Default folder locations help

Hey,

I recently moved from a desktop to laptop for producing on the go. I installed Sonar Platinum to my C drive and put the cakewalk content folder and all samples on an external USB 3 HDD. Everything was running smoothly.

This morning I forgot to plug in my HDD before opening Sonar and stupidly clicked yes when asked to migrate my settings to the default location on C:

I've changed back all the folder locations in the preferences menu, but I still can't get back certain preset menus.
e.g. the built in arpeggiator - This used to have a pop out menu for the factory presets. Now nothing appears. I can still manually locate each preset, but I'd like to be able to scroll through them like I could yesterday! :(

How do I get Sonar to automatically point to the folders on my external drive when there's no option in preferences?
I tried an advanced install over the top, but it seems the defaults are left alone.

Hey tuneboxii. Additional folder locations are set in the registry. Run regedit.exe and navigate to the following:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum\UserPaths]

The arp preset folder setting is the second on the list. Just right click on it and select modify, then enter your desired folder location.

For future convenience, after setting all of your folder locations , right click on the userpaths folder in the registry and choose export. Save the .reg file somewhere, and next time you accidentally start Sonar without your drive connected you can reset all of your folders just by double clicking on the .reg file you saved.  This has saved me lots of time in my forgetful past:)

Bruce.

I still prefer to rely on directory junctions created using the Windows command line mklink utility. But I am curious, when reinstalling (or rolling back and rolling forward) was changing the "Content Path" in the Command Center path settings tried?

Awesome! Thanks tenfoot!

@scook - I did change back the content path but not sure it actually overwrote the registry entries during the installation.
