Wrestling with views/Starlight...

I'm running Sonar Platinum returning from Producer 8.5.  One of my main challenges currently is viewing what I want.

I have a two monitor setup.

In my mind's eye, I would like to have the main screen show the (collapsible) track inspector, and a switchable track view/console view.  On the second monitor, I'd like everything else (multidock with browser, etc.).  I've watched the starlight video, and done some reading, but this view still escapes me.

If you have any advice/guidance, it would be most appreciated.

I use multi monitors too and I've found the best approach is to float or undock (same thing? ) any windows you want to place on an alternate monitor.

It would be nice if the bakers would let us setup multiple multi-docks because then we could assign md2 to mon2, md3 to mon3, ...etc. This would allow us to have the PRV and staff views open and fully displayed simultaneously for example.

Btw, you mean the "skylight" interface.

It does a take a little getting used to when you first change over schwa. Once you do though, I think you will see there are many workflow  advantages in the 'new' layout and it is very customisable. I wouldn't dream of going back now!

I put piano roll view, console view and any windows I need into the dock, float it, then drag it onto my second screen and maximise it. I then use the tabs across the top of the dock for access. Any synth property pages I open also go into the dock.

I have track view and on the main monitor, with the browser docked on the right hand side and the track inspector docked on the left hand side. I use the B keyboard shortcut to open and close the browser as needed.

    Good luck with your layout:)

Don't forget about screensets - a big advantage of the Skylight interface.
