Popping when migrating from 8.5

Hey guys. I'm migrating some files from my old computer, which had Sonar 8.5. I now am on Sonar 21.13. Literally every single song has pops amongst any track I've pulled up. I'm totally perplexed. I've tried both copying the Project folder or exporting to a bundle file. Same thing every time. What could be causing this? I go to the old computer and listen and it's fine!

Many thanks to any help you can provide.

Hey Brendan. We need a bit more info about your system. Are you using a sound card/interface with asio drivers? If so, try increasing the asio buffer size under edit>Preferences>audio>driver settings>asio panel.

it happened to me when I moved from 8.5 to X1 using exactly the same equipement configuration and since I had both versions installed I could easily do A/B comparisons.

I am using an M-Auio delta 1010lt and the conclusion is that I MUST use ASIO even if it could be very useful for me to use WDM because I have two other usb based audio i/f.

Note: and it is like me the pops are not introduced at the recording stage....it shows up during playback.

Given that the audio files were simply copied over, we can assume that they are bit-identical to the originals. That means the pops aren't actually embedded in the files themselves, but rather are real-time artifacts that occur during playback. I wouldn't expect that to be dependent on the SONAR version; my guess is you'd hear the same pops if you installed 8.5 on the new computer and played those projects through it.

More likely, the issue is with the new computer. First, make sure the ASIO buffers are the same size as they were on the old computer, so you're comparing apples to apples. If they're the same, look at other factors that might be causing interruptions to the data stream, such as having a wi-fi adapter enabled. Check your DPC latency with LatencyMon.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
