UK-ers - the Investigatory Powers Bill AKA Snoopers' Charter

This is very worrying stuff.  The Bill will allow the police to install malware on your computer, have access to an entire year's worth of your browsing history (which the ISP's will be forced to keep, and they do not want to do this) and the ISP's will also be gagged from informing any of their customers about it.  It'll cost Joe Public an arm and a leg too.  It's being waved through Parliament at an alarming rate.

Cassette boy's take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2fSXp6N-vs

Lots of articles on elReg about this: http://search.theregister.co.uk/?q=Investigatory+Powers+Bill

I've joined the campaign against this which can be found at www.privacyinternational.org

I hope this isn't too political for the Coffee House, but it seems to me that this is more about civil liberties and personal security than politics.

I reckon after checking my browsing history they'll be straight round with a flask of tea and some sarnies out of sympathy.

Of course the entire resources of MI5 & 6 could be tied up for decades if they find the FSF

Have you ever returned to the forum after a few hours and a bottle of wine to see that you've replied to a post, but can't remember what you posted without looking?  Yeah, me neither

Worrying indeed. For all our hand-wringing over government overreach here in the U.S. we've ignored the fact that the U.K. has been leading the fight against privacy all along. They've been reading your emails since forever. There are 1,850,000 security cameras there, one for every 32 people in the country.

Why should we worry about that in North America? Because we always have to out-do them on everything. They invented heavy metal, we responded with Slipknot. They gave us the mildly annoying Spice Girls, we shot back with Justin Bieber (OK, so we had to outsource that one to Canada, but the point is valid) and Kanye West.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

... and commenting about how sad and boring we might be? Like the only porn we have is the Coffee House?

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
