Native Instruments (NI) Rig Kontrol and Windows 10
Hi all,
I recently completed a clean install of Windows 10, Sonar, etc. and am sorry to report that NI's Rig Kontrol 3 didn't survive the journey. Well, not entirely. After installing the drivers and all relevant updates through Service Center, things appeared to work fine with Guitar Rig 5. The buttons do, that is. However, the pedal controller doesn't function. I tried USB 2 and USB 3 ports. No good. And after a few USB re-plugs, the OS did a cold reboot. Not good. Full stop.
I contacted NI support and was told that Rig Kontrol was discontinued, with driver support ending at Windows 8.1. But I've read elsewhere that devices working on Windows 8.1 "should" work with Windows 10. The internals haven't changed. So....
I'm posting this as both a warning and to ask if anybody else has had better luck. Maybe there are some tweaks that'll fix 'er up. I hate to commit yet another shiny, beautiful NI hardware controller - can you say "Kore 2?" - to the "spontaneous obsolescence" trash heap.
