Gentle Gypsy Lullaby { Solo Acoustic Guitar Performance }

Hello All ,

Gentle Gypsy Lullaby started out as an informal video that I had posted on u tube as an example of my improvised acoustic guitar playing .
All the playing was done in one take .( the video is proof of that
I much preferred the song as a song too be listened too with out the visual end of things .
I went in and edited sections out of the song and cleaned up some of the acoustic artifacts in SONAR .

I'm putting this song out there for anyone that enjoys listening to acoustic guitar .

I hope you enjoy .

all the best ,

Kenny

Oh Yeah , Life is Good .
The internet is nothing more than a glorified real time cartoon we all star in.
I play a "Gibson " R 8 Les Paul Cherry Sunburst .
The Love of my Life is an American Bulldog Named Duke . I'm currently running Cakewalk By BandLab as my DAW .

That's lovely Kenny, beautiful sound too. Really like the slightly melancholy mood of this piece, and the variety of styles running through it - flamenco, classical, jazz and the occasional bluesy bend. Top drawer piece of improvisation.

When I grow up, I'd like the ability to pull off a single take just like this.

That was just flat out enjoyable playing.   Smooth, fluid, and emotional.    So to paraphrase those cotton commercials....   "the touch, the feel, the fabric of Kenny's playing".

    Hi Rimshot ,
Thank you for the complement on my touch . I was in a sensitive open mood while I was playing this song .
I'm very pleased to have played music on my acoustic guitar that you enjoyed hearing .

    Hi James,

Thank you for your nice comments on my playing and sound ,
I feel very Lucky to have been brought up during a time and chapter in Music when Improvisation was considered a desirable quality of Music and Performance .
When I was still very young I was exposed to  Flamenco, Classical, Jazz , Bossa Nova , Cuban Music , and many other forms of Theatrical Music and Opera  …
I'm greatful to have been exposed to those musical influences long before I even learned how to play the guitar .
My Mom had an absolutly terrific record collection . I may have gotten a lot from those early years of listening .

    all the best,

    Kenny

Sorry to have taken a long time getting back here too you . When ever I have 2 songs up on the forum I always seem to have to let one of them collect a little dust ...Also I wanted to make sure I gave your song a listen and leave a comment .

    Hi Steve,

I would Imagine that you could probably come up with some really nice solo guitar arrangements , if that was something you really wanted too do .
In my case , a great deal of my personal music time is spent just exploring what is musically possible for me to play on my guitar  .
I'm still always learning and I don't ever want to grow up and get stale in my playing ...
Peter Pan taught me that type of work ethic

    Hi Rocky ,

I'm super glad you enjoyed the songs ride
When I sat down to play and record this one  , I just went for it .
I think the blind character Al Pacino played while driving The Ferrari  In The Scent Of a Woman would have been real proud of my guitar fingerboard driving   we both shared a lot in common ....

INDEED!   What they all said... +1.

Exceptionally well played. I really love your use of chords and the colors they impart to the melody.  I would get a glimpse from time to time of songs I knew,  as you played..... just a fleeting glimpse as a few notes flew past and reminded me of something familiar.... and then on in another direction.

    Thoroughly enjoyed that.

    Hi Herb ,

I'm very happy you enjoyed my playing on this song

I'm also happy that my guitar playing brought you to some nice musical places .

When I listen to this song my self ..I'm like Holly $hit ! how am I ever gonna be able to do all that again ?

A lot of the improvised playing I did on this song are based on many of the ideas I had put forth in that little video I had posted on the techniques section of the forum ...the first vid ....that type of stuff is what I actually practice ..even today ..

thank you so much for the kind words and the song listen .

    all the best ,
