After many years absent from this forum due to the various distractions of life, I finally finished a song. I'd love some constructive criticism regarding the production so I can up my game etc. Thanks again to everyone who provided feedback toward the remastered version. I hope I've addressed everything... please let me know your thoughts! Remastered track is right here: Alright Tonight Thanks in advance! - Paul

What a delightful song! This one takes me back to some of the early new wave stuff mixed with some of the 1960's bubblegum rock. Excellent playing, vocals, and you have got a good sound in the mix. It is panned very wide, was that intentional? Nice one!!!

Really cool song well performed Paul - you shouldn't stay away so long.... Mix-wise, it's lacking bottom end

What Daryl said...otherwise, the mix is very clean. Very Tommy James... Regards, Dan

Thank you to all that have listened so far! I will pursue a remix this coming weekend after (hopefully) more feedback comes in. I trimmed some low end in mastering, perhaps I went too far? Also, I'd like to use a little less compression so the db level isn't so HOT, then perhaps the clarity in the original working multi-track version will come through a little more...

I've found that I only trim below 39hz once I'm at the "mastering" stage. If there's too much bass at that point, I fix the mix. Sounds like you may have removed way above that frequency. Regards, Dan

I love this kind of pop! Very catchy song with a great hook. I dig the bridge, really nicely done. Agree with comments about the low end, it's kind of subdued. I would have loved to hear more harmonies but that's a taste thing, the ones you have in there are great. Love the tune.

Thanks again to everyone who listened and especially those who took the time to comment. I'll be posting a mix redux in the next couple of days with more low-end presence... perhaps I'll push the vox harmonies a little more as well. - Paul

Very mid-range and vox, to me, sounds like it was recorded through a cardboard box. Very very cool song though.

Bapu, I think this is a symptom of over-compression and perhaps the dithering and MP3 conversion... I hope to address this in my remix this weekend. Thank you for listening and feeding back. - Paul

This song is a heck of a lot of fun. It still sounds light on the low end to me, but that's a subjective thing. Love to hear more of your work!

Thanks for listening Kevin! If more people agree, I may remaster yet again with the bass pushed even higher. I guess I should move my mixing desk away from the wall - the low end must be getting exaggerated in my home studio... You can hear more of my backlog here: https://soundcloud.com/paul-devillo Thanks, Paul
