Upgrading RAM mid project?

I'm upgrading my RAM from 2 GB to 4GB Just want to make sure I won't loose anything in my current project if I upgrade midstream.
Does anyone know?

Thanks

No, it won't affect your software.  But do take the normal precautions against static electricity (which can destroy the motherboard in a second):

1).  Leave the PC plugged into A/C power, but turn off the power switch on your power supply.  Now hold in the PC's main power button a few seconds to drain any residual charge from the board.

2).  Before touching any part of the motherboard, touch a metal section of your case.  That'll ground you and discharge any static you have built up.  Or, if you have an antistatic wrist-strap, use that.

3).  Upgrade/Replace the Ram.  Close the case, turn the power supply switch back on, and you're in business!
