Addictive Drums 2 - Newbie Question - No Sound

hello,

i am trying to get some sound out of addictive drums 2.

i inserted the synth with a couple of AD2 tracks routed to master left and right.

i have dragged a couple of BEAT patterns into the workspace, but i can't get nuttin'.

i'm sure this is asked over and over, and i have looked everywhere -  but alas,

my only choice is to annoy the group and ask here.

help!

Enable input echo monitoring on all the tracks - the little button to the right of the record button should be blue..

i wish.

man, i am SURE i am missing something really simple here.
still nothing.

i get the preview in the AD2 window. but when i drag a pattern to the AD2 track, i can see the midi events, but still no sound.

do i need to do some mapping?

Do you get any sound when you open the Addictive drums GUI and click on a kit piece? (I have assumed you have actually loaded a kit)

When you say you "inserted the synth:, was this as a simple instrument?

Regarding the mapping, not sure exactly what you mean but I don't think so. You just have to choose Addictive Drums as the output for the midi track that has the data that you want to play. Click on output and there's a drop-down menu that'll show your MIDI devices, including your virtual synths. Choose Addictive Drums and make sure the Addictive Drums audio is routed to your master channel

It looks like your input is set incorrectly.  Try choosing none (or omni).

All the best,

Hi. From the latest picture it looks like you have your MID track is routed to another instance of AD2. Could that be the case? Do you have several AD2's inserted in your project? I am writing on an iPad, so I might not see the picture clearly enough.
All the best.

Are you certain you have loaded the sampleset?

It's kinda difficult to see how your routing is by that picture. Have you selected a specific midi channel for your miditrack(don't do this)?. Try to add a new midi track and set the output to AD2 and move the beats there. No more routing is necessary.

ok, i can get the midi track to play GM stuff.

when i select AD2 i still get nothing.

when i browse the kits, they all say no license. from a youtube tute, it should load the preset by clicking it.

i thought i selected a few kits when i set this up with my purchase of Sonar Platinum.

thoughts and thanks for the help.

When you go into the XLN online installer , does it say "Everything is up to date"?

Yeah, it shouldn't say "no license" if you have installed and authorized it correctly. Be sure you download and install their "online Installer" app from their website then run that.

Glad you got it going.  Agreed, keeping track of all the 3rd party content provider's installation and authorization requirements is daunting sometimes.  Good thing is you only have to make these mistakes once.
