Okay, so, here's a question. I've shied away from UVi based stuff because I had heard, indirectly I'll admit, that the UVi software could cause stability issues. Lately, I've seen a lot of new libraries (for lack of a better term) being released for UVi, that a few years ago would probably have been released for Kontakt. Is the UVi platform now considered  solid and worth investing in?

I would have purchased it in a second if it wasn't for the damn iLok type copy protection. I thought it sounded Very good and Matthew Pittman really smoked the demo...  Impressive, yet a disappointment.

Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

I've not noticed any more unstability than with any other software.

Does sound nice. I am not sure I need another though, I have plenty of ground covered with VB3 and NI Vintage organs plus more neich stuff like SampleTekk Drawbar and Sound Dust Hammr+ plus some Leslie and scanner simulators.

I did not hear any really gritty distortion.

I'm probably going to wait for a better deal in the future, I, too have it covered with NI Vintage organs, etc. I have a couple of VST's that use the UVI player, and have not noticed any instability. I don't mind iLok's computer based authentication, just don't want to deal with dongles.

I deal with my iLok2 like this.

plug it in. forget about it.
authorize new purchases. forget about it.
read about it. remember I have one. forget about it.

I spend more time dealing with what to wear each day than I do dealing with my iLok2.

Just picked up the new UVI Attack EP88...which is very good...but even with the latest edition of UVI Workstation you've got to wait till all samples are really, really fully loaded before using it and stability is good but not great...which is too bad because this thing is killer diller. Don't know why UVI can't make their player rock solid.

I'm rather fond of Kontakt after working with it for years, and I've never had it fail me when I needed it. EastWest's Play has improved so much in the last 4 years that it runs almost as well as Kontakt does, at least for me.

VB3 is totally awesome, and the NI organs are really good as well.  Someday, I may have to try a UVi product, but I think I'm good for now.

This of course is not a UVI product, but Acoustic Samples who made some very good Kontakt instruments before switching to UVI. I have a number of UVI libraries, mostly ones I got free or very cheap. They are not bad and the software seems stable.

I have UVI "Retro Organs" which is OK if you are not intrested in being able to adjust draw bars etc.  I am not sure why I have this, GAS when it was on sale is the only logical reason. The Acoustic Samples organ seems a different beast all together. I may even get it if it every goes on half price. It would be on my shortlist if I had nothing else already.

Yeah, UVI works fine here too, quite stable, nice fx included, looks even better than Kontakt. But the latter has the musical edge.

I don't know about Falcon but the UVI workstation is no where near as fully featured as Kontakt, its probably closer to Sampletank 3 with better graphics. You aint going to building your own instruments from samples in Workstation for sure but its a nice, easy player.

Good to know. One of the things I do like about Kontakt is it's flexibility.
