Notes on Step Sequencer

On opening up the Step Sequencer, we find the left column for the notes, which we can change.
I change by typing/with up/down.
Is there any provision so that while the note field in focus and I press a key on the midi keyboard that particular note will be assigned to that field?

If I have a whole new range of notes I want to set for the rows I see, I first delete all the rows but one, and then change that single row to be that of the lowest note in my target range, then hit the + sign repeatedly to add new rows, which will be added above the one I had left, AND each new row will ascend in 1/2 step increments automatically, so it goes pretty quick.

    I hope that helps,
