How to achieve over loudness?

I was reading a good article about how to achieve overall loudness using "compressors and eqs". Just wanted to share.

'volume' of the final files should be left to a mastering engineer.

your job should always be to provide a clean mix with TONS of headroom.

    that being said,
i routinely use as many compressors and limiters as i can stand on individual tracks,
but not to get tracks LOUD....
but to get the fullness of tone i want,
similar to how pensado drives a bunch of compressors and limiters just to drive up the midrange of a kick drum,
    which totally works,
but the point is to get the most out of the particular instrument, so that it's frequency range is controlled and FULL at the same time.

folks get very confused about this.

they think the end result should be loud tracks,
when in fact, it's about FULL sounding tracks that translate at any volume.
