Dimension Pro and Rapture Pro
I'm trying to clean up my vst folders and noticed that many/most/all of the Dimension Pro samples seem to also be in the Rapture Pro sample folder. Is this true? I'm tempted to just uninstall Dimension Pro and just use Rapture Pro instead. Is there any reason to keep Dimension Pro around? I don't need Dimension Pro to maintain compatibility with older projects. Thanks.

Rap Pro is basically DimPro2 so I'm not surprised the samples are located there. Be thankful it was smart and got rid of the dupes. My Rap Pro install is a frickin' mess. Many patches don't have their samples at all and Cake's tech support hasn't gotten back to my THREE requests for support. If you uninstall DimPro, there's a chance it might delete the samples though. Hopefully not but you never know.

I was wondering about this too. So far I haven't removed Dimension LE because I thought I might lose samples. (I can't speak for Dimension Pro cuz I never had it.) It gets complicated where all these sfz, prog, wav, and flac files are located. I did a lot of analysis on this. In my case, I found files exist in or under these folders: D:\CAKEWALK\CONTENT C:\Program Files\Cakewalk C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk
Fortunately, a vast majority are in the rapture folders under D:\CAKEWALK\CONTENT. And that happened because I was given an option during Rapture Pro installation as to where I wanted them. Whereas, with Dimension LE and everything that came bundled with Cakewalk Pro, I don't think there was an option. So they unfortunately got put on the C drive. Anyway, I wrote an Autohotkey script that searches for where sfz and prog files are located within those 4 directories. That way if I call up a prog in Rapture Pro, I can quickly search where the heck its sfz, wav and flac files are located. Then I can look at the sfz file and see what samples are in it. I've found some of them are located in the C: directories. I'm wondering if deleting Dimension LE would take a few of the wav and flac files away from Rapture Pro. In my case, I don't think it's a large enough disk space saving to justify losing samples so I haven't done so yet.

Rapt Pro is a replacement for Dim Pro as well as Rapture. RP should contain all the samples of both synths, just as D LE contains all of DP's samples. However, it doesn't follow that all the samples get put in the right directories for each synth. I have RP and haven't found any missing DP samples, but doesn't guarantee your performance. Cake has had a problem w/ RP installers since the get go. So I don't know if I would uninstall anything. I do know I haven't installed DP w/ SONAR (or the LEs) and I don't have any problems. Rapture has a small sample set and shouldn't be a problem to include, which I did, downloading it before I figured out I didn't actually need it. It could be all messed up since I don't use it but RP instead.

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

In the browser of Rapture Pro, I have a category called D-PRO Factory Library. Some of these I like alot. I'm wondering if any of these samples would be lost removing Dimension LE. I guess AT you're saying that's not a concern if they're all duplicated in the Rapture Pro directories. I think I'll play it safe for now. It's too bad that .prog files are not text files cuz I could create a script to search through where the samples are located. Unfortunately, I have to manually call up the prog in Rapture Pro, see what sfz files are loaded, and then look in the sfz to figure out what wav and flac files it uses.

AT Rapt Pro is a replacement for Dim Pro as well as Rapture.
RPro might be a candidate for Cakewalk to use their new VST Persist Compatibility. Then maybe RPro could replace DPro and Rapture in existing projects. I just created a feature request for this http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3415392 AT RP should contain all the samples of both synths, just as D LE contains all of DP's samples. However, it doesn't follow that all the samples get put in the right directories for each synth. I have RP and haven't found any missing DP samples
This is my experience as well. That said, I have not attempted to verify the 15000 or so programs in my installation. The programs I have tried do work though with the exception of the virtual B3 programs supplied in one of the DPro expansion packs. RPro lacks the controls built for the DPro UI when using the VB3 programs. AT Rapture has a small sample set and shouldn't be a problem to include, which I did, downloading it before I figured out I didn't actually need it.
The problem with Rapture is its inability to use flac samples. While the factory library is small, it plumps up a bit after adding 3rd party expansion packs. Again not an issue if only working with new projects and could be resolved by adding VPC to RPro.

If you took care to install DimPro and RPro data to different directories you may safely delete DP and the data. Otherwise you'd better delete both and reinstall RPro.

Uh, YES! Sheesh everything should use it. I rebuilt my DAW a while back and installed Komplete and not prior versions of the synths and got totally fragged.

I remember taking a few hours over a couple days, and some assistance from scook, to get the samples and instruments for Rapture Pro all moved to an alternative location on a different drive, along with other sample sets I had purchased for Rapture Pro. I recall needing several attempts to get it right, which also included Registry editing, but at the end of it all I DID manage to get things set properly, keeping sample libs OFF my SSD primary drive. I can circle back and dig up the info and approach/steps I used to do the above, but it would be later tonight til I can do that. Happy to help you if I can - maybe in about 4-5 hours. Bob Bone
