Sonar X, Recording Samples from Dimension Pro.

Found a bass riff that fits nicely with a song I'm working on.  Problem is I don't know how to record the sample to use where I want to it in the project.

not sure I totally follow you on this.
are you trying to use dim pro in sonar ? and record a clip using dim pro ?

insert a soft synth, dim pro. either open up piano roll view and paint the notes or use a keyboard.

Thank you Chuck for your reply.

I didn't phrase my question correctly.  First, I named the wrong soft synth.  The one I mean is SI Bass Guitar 1. This synth has a default program that contains prerecorded audio loop samples.  I'd like to use a particular sample (prerecorded) in my current project.  However, I've been unsuccessful in either finding the loop using the browser or recording it directly into my project.  I've tried recording it out to another device then importing but I don't like the sound.  Do you know how?

    Thanks, Roy-Al

OK, the SI Bass Guitar plays MIDI patterns, rather than audio loops.  It is a soft synth that plays the notes in the selected MIDI pattern.

You can drag any SI MIDI pattern that you like directly from the list into the synth track in the Sonar track view. It will become a MIDI Groove Clip that can be further edited.

Now you can use it in your project.

If you would rather work with an audio clip, you can convert this soft synth track to audio.
    1. Mute any project tracks you don't want to hear.
    2. If your track is still a Groove Clip, click the Track View Clips menu, and choose Bounce to Clip(s). This converts it to a normal MIDI clip.
    3. Click the Track view Tracks menu and choose Bounce to Track(s). Follow the dialogue box that appears.

You may also want to edit the title of your post to reflect the SI Bass Guitar, rather than Dimension.

    Good luck!
