Less Of a Mess- Scandalous Grace Band

Hi Guys, nice one, I like the song and really love the guitar solo ; )  Maybe it's because english is my third language but I find it hard to understand the vocals, they sound buried in the mix. Guitar solo is so nice it should be a bit louder, imho ; )

First thing I thought was that the vocals are a little deep in the mix, then I read the two comments above and thought OK I am not going crazy, like the lead could come up a tad, thanks for sharing.

I have updated the mix on this song and raised the Lead vocal level by 1 db.  I think it sounds much better.

Hi Michael, just listened to the new mix and I  can understand the vocals better although when the backing vocals come in I have a really hard time understanding the vocals but that could just be that my english isn't good enough ; )   What I do understand is the guitar solo, that first lick is absolutely lovely : )

Thanks Wook - Michael is out of town on a business trip now and further tweaks to the mix are probably on hold until he returns.  and he'll be gone for a while.

Good song with a nicely thick but still clear arrangement.  Sounds good!    Although, I do agree with the comments above that the lead vocals could use just a teeny bit more leveling so they float above the music throughout.

Better, the lead vocal is now sitting just in front of the band, though when the backing/harmony kicks in I think you need to get better separation from them and the lead, it sounds here a little crowded around them.  The lead guitar is also sitting much better.
 

Hey Wookiee, thanks for listening and commenting.  Sounds like I have the Lead Vocal sitting much better in the mix, but that I need to work on the back ground vocals a little.  I am out in Las Vegas working on a trade show and won't get back until June 11th.  When I get back in the Studio, I will work on tweaking this a little.

Steve, thanks for listening brother.  Love your comment, "thick, but still clear".  I have been really working on wider sounding mixes, while still retaining the clearity.  Sound like it is only the Lead Vocal that needs to be a little more prominent. All of you guys are kind of saying the same thing, but a little differently.  I feel like it is really close and just needs a little tweak yet.  
 
Cwestmont- I appreciate you letting me know that it sound good to you, even if you are listening on a tablet.  It sounds good to me too, on a tablet.  I think its really close, but overall, sounding pretty good.
