cannot get sonar LE to recognize soft synth plugin sampletank 3
This is the case, I'm a newbie to computer recording. I have managed to get sonar LE to work with hardware unit Roland SD-50 sound canvas, but I would also like to use sonar with soft synths. I have sucessfully installed soft synth plugin sampletank 3 which works well with a USB keyboard after installing the asio4all driver on my computer. Then I have specified ASIO driver at the sonar preferences checkbox, and this seems to be ok. However, on the insert soft synth meny list in sonar the sampletank 3 does not appear. Any ideas out there on what to do? I have a Laptop with reasonnably good specs (intel i7, 2,6 Ghtz, 8 GB ram) but which seem to have a Integrated soundcard (conexant HD). I would prefer not to buy an external usb soundcard if I can avoid it (this is my travel-kit). please, anyone...

Sampletank installs both Vst 2 and Vst 3 versions, but there is an option under preferences/vst settings to only show vst3 plugins. Make sure when you try to load it you look under vst 3, and if I remember correctly it is listed under something like 'samplers'.

Thanks Bruce, for your effort to help. I think your tip could be pointing in the right direction, alltough I have not been able to solve the problem. Under the VST settings in sonar LE, There are no checkboxes for VST3 Migration, as indicated in the sonar manual. Could this be a LE-limitation? Also I see that BitBridge Server Configuration is only available for Sonar Producer, and certainly not for Sonar LE. I could of course consider to upgrade from the LE version, if this is the issue, but then I'd have to be sure it solved the problem. I tried to re-install Sample Tank 3, and accidently I installed the Sample Tank version 2 first. What is funny here is that I actually got sonar to reccognize this earlier version of Sample Tank, but still not the newer version. An interesting thing here is that for Sample Tank 2, the .dll and .ini files for the VST plugin was installed in the x86 program files folder (indicating 32-bit), whereas these files were installed in the usual program files folder for Sample Tank 3 (indicating 64-bit). Under the VST settings I have added the VSTplugins folder under program files manually, but this did not help. Maybe the LE-version of Sonar does not handle 64-bit plugins as such?

I don't know why you can't get S3 recognized, but the SD 50 is an audio interface: "2-in/2-out, 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio interface with XLR inputs, phantom power, Hi-Z input, 1x1 MIDI interface, and V-LINK support" if I'm looking at the same unit that you have. If it is, delete ASIO4All from your computer completely and install Roland's drivers for your system. You can get them here: http://www.roland.com/products/mobile_studio_canvas/downloads/

Have you had Sonar do a vst scan in preferences? You need to do that after purchasing any new plugins.

Yeah run vst scan under preferences vst settings. If still not showing up, point scan direction directly to the folder where your plug resides.

Hi all, I've now sorted it out. It turns out that current version of Sample Tank 3 only installs 64-bit plugins (VST3), not 32-bit. Also I was using Sonar X1 LE which does not accept VST3 (I just found out this came with the X3 version). So I just upgraded to Sonar Artist for just $50 or so, and now everything works perfectly! Thank you for all replies! I really appreciate this forum and I'll try to contribute back once I'm more experienced

Glad you got it sorted Dinmartin:) There are many other advantages in the new Sonar over x1 as I am sure you will discover. Money well spent!
