MIDI Note-Off / Release Velocity

I realize it's not as popular a MIDI feature these days, but then it's been in the MIDI spec since 1.0 - seems an odd omission (and therefore probably intentional, so I may be swimming upstream here).

Personally, I'm using a vintage Kurzweil MIDIBoard, so this isn't breaking news, but there is evidence that demand for expressive controllers is on the rise.  Consider Roli's Seaboard, CME's Xkey, Infinite Response's VAXMIDI, and Andrew McPherson's TouchKeys, for example.  I hope there's a new generation of musicians that appreciates such things, and if they're anything like myself, they'll be disappointed to see their high-end keyboard controller less than 100% supported by their DAW.

So, it's not about me - I could care less.  But think of the children!!!
