Recording settings Platimum

Hi everybody, I am getting on much better, thanks to all of your excellent help and advice.

The latest stumbling block that I have is recording vocals. I had been using my Fast Track with Sonar 8 and windows 7 without any problems. However since upgrading to Sonar Platinum and Windows 10, I can't record vocals at all. I have selected  M-audio as my input and output drivers in audio devices and the playback is fine but I can't record.

Is there something I am overlooking?

Any help welcome - thanks in advance

PS I am thinking of upgrading my interface to RME Baby-face but not for another couple of months

Sorry, the question is just a little vague - what do you mean by "you can't record"?
What happens when you arm the track for recording?

Hi. Did your Fast Track work after installing Win 10? Did you do a fresh install, or an in place upgrade? (I have heard about some people having trouble when using the in place install / upgrade regarding drivers etc) If you did an in place upgrade, I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers.
Do you have the latest drivers for it?
Have you tried to run it in compatibility mode (to Win 7 or 8.1)?
    All the best.

    thanks for replies

Jonesey : it arms the  track fine same as usual but I just get a flat line as nothing seems to be recording

Ken:   The Fast Track appears to show up in all the right places in the program and playback is fine.   I couldn't find drivers for windows 10, so I used the windows 7 drivers as a fresh install - I will try compatibility mode. (as soon as I work out how to)

I can't find any drivers for windows 10 - I think it is the most likely cause. Ho hum,  will have to wait till I get my upgrade

Oh thats a thought .... best make sure Babyface comes with proper drivers.

    Thanks anyway guys

They have not released win 10 drivers for the Fast Track. You would have to use Win 7 or 8 drivers in compatibility mode.
On another note. The Babyface uses the same drivers as I use on my RME Ucx, and they are rock solid

Does your microphone need to go thru a preamp?

bz2838 ; I have never used a preamp ? The fast track worked fine with windows 7. I think it must be the drivers that's causing my issues but I will ask the question on the hardware forum. thanks
