Firewire in Windows 10.

 I'm going to part out my older Intel system.  It's a Core 2 system that can't be upgraded.  I have a M-Audio FW410 that seems to work fine since it's an Intel chipset.  I was thinking of still using it for buy a Steinberg UR22 which I really don't need. So I was considering buying a PCIe 1394 card since I have a newer AMD board with no 1394.
 
  The task would be getting a PCIe 1394 card with an Intel chipset but would there be anything else to do in W10 to download for firewire support.  M-Audio W7 drivers work in W10.

    Yes, the IEEE1394 "legacy" driver.

    My win10 install worked great until a certain update arrived and broke my IEEE1394.
    I installed the legacy driver and all is well.
     
    Note: The web page above refers to Windows 8 and 8.1 but it is good for Windows 10 too.
     (Microsoft support verified that 2970191 can be used with Windows 10).
     
    Be sure to download the X64 legacy version.
    After installation:
    You have to right-click and install the inf file. You have to go to Device Manager and select the "legacy" driver.
    The instructions on the web page explain all this.

    I went with the Steinberg unit since I got 15% and $10 off.
    I will eventually get one of those PCIe 1394 adapters.
