[SOLVED] AutoZoom for Controller Lanes?

I have a couple projects that use soft synth instruments with multiple CC/Wheel controlled parameters. Is there a way to use an autozoom feature with the CC/Wheel lanes as in the track view? Right now if I want more resolution, I have to either pull up the controller screen up to the MIDI notes in Piano view. This makes all the lanes the same size when I really want to work on one or two at a time. I can also hit the minus signs in lanes I don't want and just leave the ones I want to work on, but this is messy and time consuming.

If there is a way to do this, I'd appreciate some help. If not it would be nice if Cakewalk added this feature. I believe that the new product idea section is down for the moment or I would talk about it there.

Why not make a feature request for this, Walt?

I wouldn't mind seeing an Auto Zoom option not just for controller lanes, but for take and automation lanes as well.

I was under the impression (maybe wrongly so) that the Bakers were not looking at the New Feature Request posts anymore and that a new method presently in developement called "Feedback Portal" would be implemented in a future update.

I agree with you about "...take and automation lanes as well" as well.

im not sure to be honest, I use a Mackie control to do this (the zoom arrows)
but you can always resort to using the keyboard short cut -
    CTRL+LEFT/RIGHT ARROW keys.
    or
CTRL+UP/DOWN ARROW keys for vertical zoom

this is what I used before I had the Mackie.

Hmmm. I am curious if this is true since I saw it in passing but it never really clicked as to how it might be implemented. I am curious if the "Feedback Portal" will be publicly viewable as well, since it almost implies burying all the FRs that never came to pass.

    Chuck,

I have the X-Touch and can control the zoom the tracks in track view along with the MIDI notes in PRV, but what I'm (and others) are looking for is to be able zoom in on individual controller lanes in the Piano Roll View without all the others being zoomed as well. If you have a lot of MIDI Controller Lanes and want to zoom in on one lane to increase the resolution, all of them zoom.

Re: [SOLVED] AutoZoom for Controller Lanes? 2016/06/22 18:44:50 (permalink)
The feature was there all the time but I didn't know how to use it.

So, we're in the Piano Roll view and you are controlling a softsynth with 20 different controller lanes. I have dual 27" screens and keep the PRV on the right screen when I'm using it. Even with 27" it's difficult for these 71 year old eyes to get any kind of precision with that many lanes.

If you have 20 controller lanes, just close up (hit the minus sign) 19 of them. (Sonar won't let you close up the last one. I'd leave velocity). Now if you want to edit say "Modulation", click on the drop down menu that presently says Velocity and select Modulation. Now that will be the only lane shown. If you would like to edit on 2 controller lanes at the same time, hit the + button and select whatever lave you would like to add. Note that this works if you've already added these lanes and put in some data.

It's exactily how I would like for it to work and it was right in front of me!

BTW: This same procedure also works for automation lanes too.

    Hope this is helpful.
