BBE Sonic Maximiser - Are there any equivalents these days?

Hi,
I first started using the BBE Sonic Maximiser VST Plugin about 2005, and was wondering if there are any other new or more recent plugins that do a similar job? I'm quiet impressed by that plugin in that it seems to give individual tracks, or the finished recording a bright and clear presence.

TIA.

There is a freebie out there called La Petite Exciter that does a pretty good job. I haven't done a comparison of BBE and La Petite but La Petite has a few more features on it that make it worth taking a shot. Sorry, I don't have a link. Just Google.

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

Yeah, Revival in VMR. It's okay, at best. To be fair though, most of these shouldn't be needed if the mix has been done right. I will use the Aphex on vocals that need air, but I try to avoid that when I can as it can add some harshness.

I use the exciter in Ozone more often than the BBe Sonic maximizer.

Though the effect is similar to an exciter, according to the company the BBE performs a phase alignment to the speaker frequencies. It is this alignment that sharpens the sound.

There was a discussion here awhile back on it and some think the BBE explanation of what their product does is snake oil. My opinion is that it probably does what they say it does.

In the end it has the effect of excitation but doesn't do anything with EQ or harmonics like some others do.

This is important to the thread I think because IMHO it really isn't an exciter per se.
