Building a backing track in SONAR (Platinum) - HELP!

I have been doing everything possible to move from ProTools 8 MPowered to Sonar Platinum.  The last thing I use ProTools for is building my band's backing tracks.  I'm struggling even with what should be the simplest things.  Is there a reason you can't capture the click sound made by Sonar?  I've tried EVERYTHING.  I see the metronome click creating a signal in the mix, but no matter what setting I select, it won't actually bounce to the channel during export.  Is there a way to do that?

I could use a synth - a drum kit for example - and insert a stick hit or something, but it just seems like one should be able to capture the sound of the metronome click in Sonar like you can with ProTools.

If anybody has any suggestions as a way to do that, it would be great.  I love working in Sonar and ProTools 8 has all kinds of problems in Windows 10 so need to make the switch completely...this is the last thing.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Not at my computer, but I think you can go to the output of the metronome bus and set the output it to an aux track. Arm the aux track & hit record.

You can also use a send from the metronome bus to an aux.

    Hope this helps.

    Gokidsmusic is right.
Additionally, you can use any of the included synths or drumkits to create/program a custom click.

Surely it would be just a matter of seconds to add a VST with a stick sound. Program the first 4 hits the same time as the metronome. Now just copy that clip and PASTE SPECIAL to set the number of repetitions .. for ever if you like. At least this way you can select the sound and might find a better sound than the metronome sound.

I assume you are setting up a click track for the drummer or others??

We used do this. Shove the click track out the left channel via panning the "click track" track and the rest of the track out the right channel. Feed the left channel click to the drummer so he could adjust volume. Front of house on most PA's is mono anyway?? Unless you specifically have some serious left / right stereo stuff going on as part of the show :D

I have a template with a 1/4 note hi hat.
You can also drag and drop a midi file that is a drum machine pattern I have dozens of those saved from my trusty old Roland 505.
I often start songs by playing guitar and singing along with that instead of the metronome.
You can also manually enter 4 quarter notes, turn into a groove clip and drag them out to the end of the song... dozens and dozens of ways to do this stuff.

Go to the metronome settings by clicking the icon and you'll see a bunch of options.

If there is no metronome buss in the buss pane,
Right click the buss pane and choose "insert stereo buss"
Name it metronome. Set the output.
Now go to the metronome preferences and point it at that.
If you have a multi output audio interface set the metronome buss output to the one you send to your mixer for the click. I use output 4.
