Impulse Response reverb in Sonar Platinum? + coexistence question.

Hey there fellow Sonar users,

I'm a longtime user myself, been upgrading every 4-5 years since the 80's when it was just Cakewalk for DOS2.0 :)

I just did the upgrade to Platinum with lifetime support and currently use Sonar Producer 8.5. But I haven't installed yet as I'm currently not in my studio. I use Perfect Space IR reverb quite a lot and don't see any mention of one in the list of features. Is one provided in Platinum? Or are newer reverbs considered better than IR reverbs?

Also, since it's been 4 years, have there been any issues with versions coexisting on a DAW? I certainly do not want to disrupt the many projects in the works on the 8.5 platform while I learn Platinum.

Thanks!

Breverb uses IRs. There is no reason you can't continue to Perfect Space as well. They can co-exist with no problems. Just be careful if you decide to uninstall 8.5 you could lose some plug-ins that came with it. You can reinstall said plugs from the disc or leave 8.5 on your machine.

Platinum has Rematrix Solo. I already had the full version of Rematrix when Solo was added so I haven't tried it ...

The only concern with Perfect Space is it stuck at 32bit and will not be updated. As mentioned REmatrix Solo is bundled with Professional and Platinum. There are also several inexpensive alternatives such as MMultiBandConvolution which is a steal when it goes on sale at 50% off (which happens a few times a year).

- Intel i7 3770K 3.5GHz
- Windows 10 Pro - 64 bit
- Cakewalk by BandLab x64
- Reaper x64
- 16GB RAM
- Asus P8z77-V mobo - using the integrated Intel graphic card (HD4000)
- MOTU Ultralite AVB audio interface
I usually use ASIO set at 64 or 128 samples
er - that's it I think...

BTW, both DAWs should work OK side by side. There is quite a learning curve moving from 8.5. If you are moving from 32bit to 64bit too, there are another set of challenges. Finally if you relied on DX versions of Dimension Pro and Rapture you will have a few more opportunities for adventure.
