Jasmin's Lullaby
This is a track that I originally recorded in 1998 for my niece's christening. As she's turning 18 later this month I though it was a good choice for a remix with my new Kontakt 5 Library. All coments are welcome, as I want this to be as perfect as possible. Note: I forgot to fade at the end. Edit: Final mix https://soundcloud.com/so...ion/jasmins-lullaby-18

This is nice and pleasant. The strings could be wider and louder Nice mix, well done!!!

Very nice Steen... One comment I have would be that the flute you are using seems to have full on vibrato. That isn't naturally how a flute player would play, so for realism, especially in a solo instrument, you need to replicate the way a real flute would be played. Granted, if the only flute you have has vibrato embedded in the sample, you are out of luck. Regards, Dan

Thanks a lot. You're right about the strings. I didn't think it sounded so good, so I turned them down a bit, but I should probably work on the sound instead.

Thanks Dan I hear your on the flute. I'm using the flute from the standard Kontakt5 set, but I think I can get less vibrato on it. Steen

Nice tune, I enjoyed it. The flute and strings comments above have you pretty well covered... though I'd be tempted to work the drums a little too - a little more punch on the kick and vary the hihats a bit. Oh, and don't forget the ending.

lovely tune. the differing instrumentation sounds weird. tbh only the acoustic guitar sounds real so i'd concentrate less on varying the lead instrument and on altering the background dynamics.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it. That's what it about. I will work on the drums. I should be able to find a better set.

Thanks for listening. Yeah, that'a valid point and I will remember this in my upcoming projects, but for this one I'm pretty set on the changes. Mostly because the melody really doesn't change that much, so I think variation would be good in this case. I would love to hear other views on this.

I really enjoyed it, reminded me of some lullaby CD's I had for my kids when they were little. Pretty tune, and I thought the instruments sounded good although I agree the drums need work. But I think accoustic drums almost always need work from loops, so I might be biased on that from the start.. :)

Thanks a lot. I have a new version coming where a few things mentioned have been adressed. I'm currently debating with myself whether or not I should replace the crisp and clean guitar samples with the real deal, even though it might not sound as good. My electric is currently in the shop for a tune-up and I'm not sure if I can make it sund good enough.

Must be listening to the remix sounded good here reasonably well balanced, though the flute does still sound a little unreal to me.
Thanks for sharing.

Birthday tomorrow, so this is a final mix. I tried other instruments to replace the flute, but nothing worked. Rerecorded the electric guitar. This is also the first mix using my brand new Mackie studio monitors.

I really like this a lot. I am a big fan of John Denver's music and have recently started to learn how to play guitar using my fingers instead of a pick. Something that has really opened my ears to a whole new world where music goes. Sometimes people post things here wanting advice and critics for their mix, other times they post things wondering how things might be better music writing wise. As for the mix, you've got it sounding really solid, although I am no expert. As for your song, I like how you hang on the main background riff, but what in my opinion would really set it off would be if you changed the background chords and took it off into a journey elsewhere rather than hanging on the same somber thing over and over. And I mean that comment in a good way so please don't take it any other way. Enjoyed hearing this either way very much!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steen Very nice melody! I think it was repeated a bit too much tho and there were too many instruments playing it solo. The guitar at 0:40 is very good.
The song needs another section (chorus, bridge?) for more interest. The melody gives you a good foundation for a great song.

Thanks BjornDx. I've noted the many instruments. It's just a very old track, so I didn't want to change it. I'm leaning a lot to use in my coming projects.
