Folks, One of my mates is getting married in a few months and I wrote this hungover one day, to be honest I thought it turned out damn well andI hope he likes it when I give it to him on the day. Anyway as always I would appreciate anything that stands out,or recommendations about the mix etc Thanks Cian Singing on Your Wedding Day UPDATED 29/06/16: https://soundcloud.com/ci...-wedding-day-2/s-ejG1x

I'm not sure I would do the percussion like that. Personally, I would add a kit and bass when you bring up the volume with the first saying of, "she is your bride" about a quarter of the way through. I think the song needs that instead of the way you do the percussion. Good song and well played/sung!!!

Cian, Nice work. Vocals are really good. To me the piano sounds more like a placeholder or sketch in the context of the overall production. There are spots where I would leave the piano or piano fills but I hear some basses, cellos, violas and violins in this song. Maybe some acoustic guitar?? I like the orchestral percussion at the end and you could also add some random percussion a little earlier in the song as well. The song itself is really great and I am sure your friend is going to love it.

I think it's Tubular Bells and somehow in this song, they make me thing of christmas. Very nice tune and nice production, though.

+1 to the above - great song! Arrangement/mix-wise I also think it needs something more at "your bride". As yet another alternative, maybe try E piano and upright bass for the first section, with strings coming into to bump things up at the "your bride" line, and then percussion (but punchier) about where you have it now?

i'm assuming you intend to sing this song with you and piano on the day? hence this arrangement? if not then i agree with the above comments regarding more instrumentation. As ever Cian the vocal is extraordinary. you'd prob want to fine tune the delay on the vocal for a finished vocal. The ending gets a bit hokum!

I'm sure your friend will be honored. There are many good suggestions in here already. My only one is to lessen the delay and reverb on the vocal.

Another vote in support. I had though strings at a point, but your use of horn and bells was a better option. I wouldn't change it, particularly if the grand musical production feeling (think Broadway)is a pay off the effect b you want to achive. Your frI end will be truly honored by your work.

Guys, Thanks for getting back, only got a moment to revisit this. The song is originally written for a solo piano song at the church hence the piano prominence. Although a standard band type accompaniment might work, I avoid that direction, I would prefer a more church, epic style ambient In light of that here is another version filled up with some flute, strings and cello, needs some tightening up in places but let e know if you prefer this or not. https://soundcloud.com/cian-mcgovern/singing-on-your-wedding-day-1/s-YirvA Jimyoyo - good to see you back writing. I would go the direction your are talking about for sure, however the keys must stay in terms of the live solo performance (in some form) Guitarpima - I agree about giving more beef down the middle but I dont wanna go the kit route to be honest, not in a church setting Mark - more of your suggestion in here now. Altough perhaps you could point a few spots where the piano should take a real back seat Soundregion - Thanks for that viewpoint, I purposefully picked tubular bells for that feel but I guess it does do xmas aswell, anyone else get distracted by that? Steve - little bit more as you suggested now, altough punchier, mmmm how, dry it up with less low end timpani? mgh - yes right call on arrangment. Ive filled it our more now. hokum, how dare you! pushing boundaries, its a special day! Stringjammer, I have taken down the delay on a few spots for sure and noticed a few more spots also Rimshot/Fred/Rico - Thanks fellas, sometimes the "correct" overproduced song can lose my own identity and at the end of the day he's gotta know that I done it with the instruements I had chosen. But I have gotten some good feedback here. Cheers Cian

I love it! This could easily be a standard, Cian. It's a little derivative of the free form diatonicism one hears on broadway these days so that will put it squarely in our period.

Not my genre or style of music at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably a good thing though considering the situation and content. I don't play that instrument, but you are really talented listening to this. Very EPIC and Anthem and lot's of feelings mixed in. As I suspect it should be. You have a great voice and music and MIX are really sounding great to me. I absolutely love the BIG sound from the small orchestra vibe you are getting with this tune. That's the same kinda thing I am going for with my own music, but it's hard to do when you don't sing and you are a one man band. WOW MAN! You are posting this as : "What do you think"? I am left wondering : "Where can I hear more?". I liked hearing the air between everything going on, not a mush of things. Enjoyed hearing this one very much, I hope you do great with this one and thank you for sharing it hear!

Serious Noize, skinnybones & Beagle, thanks you v much your feedback. Im never fully happy with anysong so always keen to get feedback on anything. This still needs a tighten up in places which I will get to. If anyone felt anything on the master either, EQ choices that would be great too Cian
