This Is No Ordinary Thursday

https://soundcloud.com/or...s-no-ordinary-thursday

Singing is still a struggle for me, but I'm getting there. I hope it's adequate anyway.  Thanks for listening.

This is a song about getting away from the usual routine and spending a day or so alone in the wilderness.
Lyrics inspired by the book "More Than A Rock" written by Guy Tal.

Lyrically, this reminds me of "Busy Doin' Nothing" -- Brian Wilson's samba song on the Friends album -- it details moving from one action to another in the course of a day.  The difference in the songs is that the Beach Boys song has more movement in the melody than does this  (but hell, who can write like BW?). However, your song works as a tone poem piece of sorts.  Your vocals -- while not dynamic -- are pleasant and get the song across which is what we writers try to achieve in a demo, right? So, good job on this one.   !!

Mikalization - Thanks.  To me, melody is everything.

Allan - Guess I'll have to check out that Beach Boys song. I have an idea, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by the movement in that melody. I appreciate the comments.

Enjoyed hearing this, as for the vocals, I'm no singer, but I am like you are, that is someone who adds vocals to show how the song goes, you can't always do it with adding a melody with keyboards/guitar and stuff, you've gotta add some vocals to show how the song goes.

Bob Dylan couldn't sing to save his life, anybody who says Bob Dylan was a great singer has no clue what singing is all about. Bob Dylan was a great poet speaker in my opinion.

My point : Don't be afraid to try, and anyone who tells you otherwise is NOT A FRIEND OF YOURS!

Really enjoyed hearing your music, very poetic and interesting. I'm no Mix expert but the mix sounded good to my ears.

    Keep on keepin' on!!!!
