I just listened to it with my third ear. It's pretty annoying...

some cool ideas let down by the software I think. what is there is well mixed. reminds me of Lutoslawski in parts. you have a great imagination. actually this is very effective and impressive. you're right the brass esp is ****e, but really if played through VSO would be amazing

very kind mgh. the triangles are vsl and you're right, they really shine compared to some of the brass samples. The velocities are all wonky in the horns VSL is just so expensive.

Hi again, eph221, I enjoyed that; I tend to get restless when I listen, but it didn't happen with this. It's evocative and, I find, cinematic. That is, it's easy to picture a scene in a suspenseful film with the tension upped by this music playing throughout. As for the gnat, I wondered if he (or she?) was on the ground instead of in the air in the middle there, as he/she seemed to be in imminent peril of being stomped! The motif you brought in after that section was very tasty and you developed that whole following section really well, I thought. Thank you for the lovely listen! LJ

It is kind of hard to get past those brass parts since there are lots of them, but the rest seems to work well - strings in particular sound good here. I also get LJ's stomping reference in the middle - it does come across as giant feet coming down... fortunately the gnat was able to remain elusive so can continue doing its thing in the third section.

The stomping also kind of sounds like the garbage trucks picking up the garbage haha.

Gnats like garbage. Or so I'm told.

So I compressed the s*** out of the horns and added an ssl channel strip to them. And I also added a jupter 8 bass line that sounds really cool. This mix of *gnat* sounds really good at a louder volume. Enjoy! (BTW those weird volume aberrations at the end happened in the exporting to the wave file OR in the encoding to MP3 , they weren't in the final mix). https://soundcloud.com/david-sprouse-76324214/gnat
