Ver Tudo (see it all)

Hi All,
I've got a new non-prog, slightly dusky song fresh from the oven.   This one's a short story about a small establishment in New Orleans providing "metaphysical services".

Nice one Steve, very unusual tune that bears repeated listens. Love the trem guitars at the start and the solo tone. Mix sounds very nice through headphones, the only crit I have is that the organ sounded in a different place early in the tune, but that feeling disappeared as it progressed.

Still sounds like prog to me...

not proggy? i beg to differ! great stuff. love the ascending chord sequence before the solo. which is excellent in itself.
a few of the vocal harmonies were a bit off in the aforementioned pre-solo part. overall this is awesome! OOOH and the guitar swell solo outro is f'ing genius!

    Hey Stevec,

I really love this song! The whole atmosphere's great, the voice call and harmony responses are very satisfying. The bass and drums are solid and punchy. My favourite bit is "As the room spins out of control ...." etc. The deep voice and melody are just super there... you can picture yourself in a dark, confusing, but tempting and exciting situation. Just great :) LJ

Always look forward to a new tune from you, and this one sounds really great! I'd agree with the others though, prog is in your DNA. Even if you tried your hand at a country song, it would still come out with prog elements.

Nice wide mix, and everything sounds nicely polished. That guitar solo really shines too!

Thanks, Steen!    The solo was fun, but it did take some work both for the parts and the tone.

Thanks, James!   Unusual works for me.   The trem guitars are CX-A sims with MTremelo and the solo is a customized TH3 patch.  I hear ya on the organ, but when I brought it forward or back it just didn't seem right, so I just left it alone.   That's one for prog...

Thanks, Mark!   OK, that's two for prog...      The ascending progression took a few variations before settling on that one, and the vocal lines are very weird!   Re: the second solo....  that's actually a solo played in reverse.  I recorded three takes, liked the last one best so used that throughout, but then decided to also fade in the first two takes at left and right for a bit of a weaving effect.

Why, thank you Miss Laura!    I was certainly going for atmosphere, and the "room" section was supposed to be part of that (I usually don't sing that low!).   Dark and confusing, yet tempting and exciting...  I like it.

Thanks, Allan!  As always it is greatly appreciated.

FWIW, though it probably took me about 20 takes to get there it was one of the more "fun" solos I've done.   OTOH, the reverse solo towards the end only took 3 takes with no punch-ins.  I wonder what hidden psychological meaning I can get from that...
