1080p TV as the only monitor
I have 2x22" DVI-D in monitors now and need to upgrade my mobo. The board I'm wanting to get has an HDMI port as well (Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3HP) so I am thinking about getting a 32" Samsung 1080p HD TV to replace the 2 22" screens for larger real estate. Has anyone tried this or is now using this type setup and is the text crisp & clear? My "sweet spot" seating is about 24-30" from the present monitors. Rick

It will be bigger, but if your two small screens were also 1080p you'll have half the screen real estate.

I switched over to using HDTV's as my computer display monitors years back, and have never looked back. The HDTV's work plenty fine for me, and I get WAY for bang for the buck.
I currently have 2 HDTV's (used to use 3, but dropped back to 2 and that's been fine). The first happens to be a 40" Westinghouse that I picked up brand new for $249, and the other is a 32" RCA that I picked up brand new for $130.
I am running using the built-in graphics of the AMD A10 CPU I happen to be using, and use the HDMI port from the motherboard to run video and audio to the 40", and then I have an adapter cable that connects to the DVI port from the motherboard and is converted to an HDMI connector to run to the 32".
I have NO dedicated video card, as the CPU's video provides plenty of horsepower to run both displays.
I am SUPER happy with the money I have saved using the above setup, and have no performance issues, with an added benefit of setting the Windows Default Audio Device to be the HDMI audio port for the 40" HDTV, which gives me adequate sound for things like playing YouTube videos or Windows Media Player tunes at the same time Sonar is running - as Sonar is set to use my audio interface and its ASIO drivers.

(I edited my text below a couple times for clarity) The forum search mechanism is poor - but Google's search filters make it super easy to search the forums for threads/posts for whatever issues you are looking for info on. If you use the format of: site:forum.cakewalk.com your-search-terms, Google will only sort through the Cakewalk forums for whatever your-search-terms you added. I also switched to using HD TV's about 2 years ago.
look for a TV with a good refresh rate. the mouse movements are a little less pin point then a regular monitor but everything is better. high quality, large detail.
I just cant imagine how for so many years I used a small little 22 inch monitor. it amazes me.
im so spoiled with the large screen, everything has more detail because you can see more.

I'm liking my 39" Samsung Led HD TV, with the pricing quite near to a regular 27" Led monitor, it's a better buy. For Samsung HD TV, there is a setting for the input to be set as PC and after setting it up, you can't tell the difference between a computer monitor and the HD TV, except it's bigger.
About the only major difference that set apart a HD TV and a computer monitor is after you power off the computer - whereas the computer monitor will immediately goes into sleep mode, a HD TV will continue to run (the TV should not sleep when you change input source). There should be an option to set the timer to sleep when there is no input source, but it's not immediate.

Just wanted to update my current DAW setup now. I replaced the trinity (mobo,cpu,ram) from a several year old AM3 trinity to an 1150 trinity (ASRock Z97 Pro4, i7-4790K, 16g Corsair Vengeance) and lastly, a pretty inexpensive 4kUHD TV/Monitor - Seiki SE39UY04 39" 4K Ultra-HD LED TV running at 3840x2160p. Incredible! I didn't wish to reinstall/reactivate all my programs and vst's, so I found this software and instructions from this thread: http://www.sevenforums.co...-motherboard-swap.htmlIt was unbelievably quick and easy, but I did have to call M$ to re-activate Win7. Only problem I encountered was my fault; failing to update the time settings (the mobo was 13 mos behind.) and I didn't notice it so I was getting all kinds of browser and Command Center issues.

No one needs that. I still use the VGA input on my TV. It's a 32" 1366x768.
