Waveform painting issues....

This has been going on a few revs now but it is annoying.
When I load a project the waveforms look like a block. 
1.  The first track will start to paint but when it moves out of the current view it apparently stops painting until I move it back into view.
2.  It wont paint any of the other tracks until the first one is done.
3. So its one at a time from 1 to 16
 
is this the norm

    How long is the project?
    Has the picture cache been recently cleared? If not, does clearing the cache help?

    This problem appears sometimes when a clip consists of 2 or more wav-files - instead 1 single file.
    Try to bounce this clip. (Right-click bounce to clip)
    If this doesn't help, clear additionally the picture cache.

    The picture folder is defined in Preferences > File > Audio Data
    Delete the contents of the folder.
