Old hardware working in Window 10 without new drivers
Just wanted to let y'all know that I just did an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 (64-bit) to Windows 10 (64-bit), expecting that my old Mackie ONYX 1200F Firewire interface and my M-Audio FastTrack Pro would be non-functional since there are not going to be any new drivers published for either. However, to my delight, both are functioning fine so far with the latest (and last) Windows 7 drivers. Posts in other forums warned of problems and bemoaned the lack of continuing support for these products. One forum suggested the Vista drivers would work for the Onxy 1200f (and 400F), but they did not. Rolling back to my Windows 7 drivers worked fine. I'll update this post if I run into any problems. Aloha, Bill

Not being an expert myself, but I would suggest you do an image backup now, because I am not sure that the same would work with fresh install of Windows 10 (for example if you had harddisk failure and needed to re-install).

Had a problem with a Presonus Inspire GT when I decided to upgrade their last set of drivers even though the older ones worked in Windows 10. The control panel didn't like to the installer. The problem was the installer. Well developed installers tell you when to connect or disconnect your device. Most hardware seems to be fine in general using W7 drivers in W10.

Hi, Just did a fresh install of Windows 7, to a new to me machine, and my 1200f does not like it. It keeps locking up the second any program accesses its settings. I am using the Vista drivers (4.6) as I have heard the 400f drivers for Windows 7 will damage my 1200f. FWIW my Focusrite pro40 works fine I just get much better recordings with the Mackie I have seen several accounts on the internet that the 1200f will work with Windows 7. Are you saying you had yours working on Windows 7? If so, please tell me what drivers you are using. Thanks

stevenage -- Yes, it worked fine in Win 7. I never tried the 4.6 Vista version until Win 10. I think the last non-Vista version I used in Win 7 was version 3.2.8 (XP driver). I just looked and both are available on Mackie's website under discontinued products. https://supportloudtech.n...public/#category/11297

Thanks for the reply! I'll keep hope alive and hopefully keep my 1200f alive. I'll report back my successes.

I built a new computer, but I'm having trouble with my interface (Echo Layla 3G). The outboard unit lights up and looks normal but Win 10 doesn't see the card in the only standard PCI slot in the Asus Z170A mobo., Intel 5th gen CPU. Loaded new drivers even though the Echo site says they don't support drivers for Win 10. Their recommendation is to take the latest driver in their selection of legacy drivers. No change. No drivers show up from the C3 console doesn't see Echo hardware response and as I said, neither does Win 10. There is one other card in the PCI wide 3v slot nVIDIA 8400 w/512 MB.

The issue isn't a lack of Win10 specific driver. The PCI slots for a Z170 motherboard are using a bridge chip (bridged into the PCIe bus). Some audio interfaces don't cope well in bridged PCI slots. In particular, Echo and Lynx PCI cards won't work in bridged PCI slots.
