Orange Tree Evolution Updates

I saw this on twitter last night

Just released updates for Dracus, Strawberry, Steel Strings, and Modern Nylon. Download the new engine files here:
https://www.orangetreesamples.com/account/downloads

Improvements in the latest Evolution guitars include a new "random" articulation condition, improved pick noises, and more reverb pedals.

Wish we'd get a heads up when this happens.

Wish we'd get a heads up when this happens.

It wasn't a particularly large update, just a few small changes, which is why we didn't send out a mass email. Your Orange Tree Samples account should show when an update is available, too, but that's sort of a passive thing. In this case, would you prefer a direct email even for small updates?

The update adds a new "random" condition for articulations, and new reverb pedals. From what Greg has said, the "random" articulation condition allows you to trigger an articulation at your chosen level of random frequency. This will be more useful as the new libraries come out and allow some fret buzzing, etc. to be triggered randomly, which I think will add yet another layer of realism to the products, which are already great, of course.

Any news from you is always very welcome Greg, as you make some of the best instruments in our musical world.
Edith adds: this OrangeTreeSamples update system works mighty fine: when you enter your account you see what's new to be downloaded, and when you do, your account accordingly shows you did

Good to know about the email updates, thanks!

The nice part about the random condition triggering misfretted notes is that you basically get to choose how often those occur in the round-robin cycle rather than them being hard-coded as round-robin samples.

One of the libraries we have in the works is a mandolin library for our Evolution line. Because of how small the frets are on the mandolin, it's pretty common that your finger will get placed on the fret a little bit too far to the right, which causes the string to get slightly muted. Whether you're playing fast lead lines or strumming chords, having occasionally misfretted notes really makes a big difference in realism.

As a future owner of your products (waiting for the group buy), this update didn't affect me directly, but as a general rule, I think that an email notification should go out to existing owners of products for every update (even if it was rather small). Most people don't log into their accounts on all of the many dozens of developers' websites on a regular basis, and so will likely miss that an update was ever released unless they hear about it on a music forum like this one. Maybe just use it as an opportunity to also announce some other things that are coming, like that mandolin (!), and stick the news about the update in the email with it.

Really looking forward to the Evolution Guitar Bundle. I hope we reach that 60% off tier, but even if we don't, 55% is an awesome bargain. Good luck with the sale!

But that Bechstein is soooooo good.

My problem is I load up 3 pianos, (and, yea, Bechy is one), several mics... and have to go away, clean the chicken coop or something....Songs where I've used Pianos take forever to load... I'm hoping the continuous pedaling and greggygoodness will cure this condition!
