Its time for the editing funtions to be fixed!

I wanted to post something that has been on my mind for a very long time.. I have been using and endorsing this product since 1998 Cakewalk 6 I think. Sonar 8.5 still is the best to me although I love many of the new features and technology we have now. I love sonar but the editing features are very broken and this is a deal breaker. I want to get some steam going to get this fixed asap!!!. I use this program everyday in my studio and on many know releases. Can we please get the cut copy past simplified and fixed?? Its a disaster. I would also like to see choose all or selected choices between clips and automation views in the track view this flipping back and forth takes forever slowing work flow. (I use to be able to do this in second its now minutes). Thus being said I still prefer sonar to all other DAW. Comment's welcome.

You might need to provide a bit more detail on what exactly it is you find 'broken' in cut-copy-paste (I use them all constantly and find they generally behave as I'd expect them to, except in the case of automation which still does, admittedly, seem to have some quirks)... And how can it possibly take you minutes to switch from clips and automation views? The smart tool allows you to shift-click on any envelope to select it in a fraction of a second, and on a non-envelope clip region to select clips in the same amount of time. I could switch between clips, 5 different envelopes, and back to clips again in under 5 seconds I'd wager.

Cut, delete, slide over all the above leave clips behind some are copied some not some don't get selected ect...its a mess.
Perhaps I did not make clear on the automation clip's functions. I understand your comment to be true but It would be much faster to have choices or be able to see the automation and clip's at the same time like sonar 8.5 was, I liked the old way much more. The new way has advantages also but having a choice on what the main lane see would speed things up a ton. Not a fan of the automation only lane but for those who like this it would be a great to have choices.

Hmm. Again, I don't have those issues with cut, copy and paste. Ctl-drag to copy, shift-drag to constrain position in x or y axis, both at once, it all works as expected, at least with clips. Automation copy and paste actually works much better than it used to - 8.5 was, in fact, much more of a mess in that regard.

And... but... you *can* see both automation and clips at the same time, and you *do* have choices as to what automation is in a lane and what is overlaid on the clip area. You can switch individual automation envelopes from lanes to overlay, and have any combination you want. It's incredibly flexible. It honestly sounds like you don't know how to use it. I suggest doing a bit of research and reading in the documentation. It sounds like everything you want to do is perfectly possible. I work that way all the time - multiple automation envelopes, some overlaid, some in lanes, whatever I need to see wherever I need to see it.

I don't mean to diminish your issues, but it seriously sounds like they are not problems with what the software can or can't do as much as they are you apparently not knowing all the things it can do. Apologies if I'm wrong and am simply misunderstanding what you mean, but that's how it seems to me.

There are known issues with delete hole, but the inclusion of ripple editing in the near future will hopefully address this problem. As to 'many others', you would need to detail the problems you are having. As Tobias has pointed out it is quite possible that there are already solutions of which you are not yet aware.
