Batteries are expensive in part because of duty cycles. This is where you drain the battery completely. If you never completely drain the battery, you might be able to get a much less expensive battery.
Batteries that can be drained completely repeatedly are expensive. A car battery is an example of a battery that is not designed for a high number of duty cycles. Laptop batteries are the opposite. Users regularly drain them dry. For this reason, most laptop users will not be happy with bargain batteries.
This does not mean that bargain batteries don't do what they are meant to do. If you only want the battery to be able to carry your laptop from the kitchen to the den without shutting down, a bargain battery well do you. But if you drain it dry a few times, it may become worthless.
