What Can't Touch Do for Me?
Reading the forums, I was unable to find what task I can't perform using a multi-touch monitor and windows 8/10. All videos I come across are for sales purposes and X2a implementations. It's gotten better since then, right? I'm finally looking to invest in a touch screen for my DAW, but I'm not sure I can find the level of touch control in Sonar to make it a suitable investment. From what I've been able to find on the forum and videos seems to suggest that most people use Sonar in the console view. I don't find many people talking about using it in the track view and the threads I have found only speak of basic navigation.
How does Sonar & Touch work in the track view? What can and can't I do in the track view? Can I cut, copy, & paste audio\midi clips using touch? Can I draw automation? Can I select different tools and use them in the track view? Can I rearrange clips? Insert and route tracks? Can I edit midi data?
When it comes to the console view, how much functionality do you really have? Does touch work for all the Pro Channel modules, such as the FX chain? Can you swipe groups of tracks mute, solo, or record buttons? Can you create track groups? Can I select existing plugins and insert new ones in the fix bin using touch? perform track Route? Can I pop open the built-in EQ's large panel display and edit from there?
These are just some functions that are off the top of my head that I would wan to perform via touch. I'd love to hear about the task people are performing in Sonar via touch and what it has done for your overall workflow? Where is touch in Sonar a joy and where in Sonar is touch not that great?
I'm interested in a dual or triple monitor setup...The triple monitor would be ideal, but dual monitors also work, if using touch in Sonar's console view is lights out.
I look forward to everyone's feedback, thanks!
