Melodyne Question

Hi,
I've transfer a number of X3 projects to a new computer with Sonar Platinum.  In some of these projects I used Melodyne 3 to do some specific tunings and timings.  Yet the Melodyne clips are  greyed out in Sonar Platinum with the new Melodyne 4 essential plugin included.   Any suggestions?   I don't want to have to redo all these fine tunings.
Thank you

Did you not render the clips after working on them with Melodyne3?

Did you reinstall Melodyne 3?  Which if IIRC was studio.

Skyline, I created the Melodyne clip and made the changes, but I do not think I rendered the clip after I was done.   What does rendering the clip do?

Wookiee, I re-installed Melodyne 3 on the new computer, but it seemed to confuse the computer with Melodyne 4 essentials in there, so I uninstalled Melodyne 3. Not sure what you mean by "Which if IIRC was studio."?

DreamReality   What does rendering the clip do?

It's a destructive edit that mixes the file down with effects processing included and deletes the plugin from the effect(s) bin.  In doing so you are committing to a particular sound and it can reduce the load on your DAW. It's a good idea to have a backup of the file without processing.

Dreamreality I would reinstall your Melodyne 3.  Melodyne Essentials 4 is just that the basic program.  Celemony quite clearly state that only 1 version of Melodyne can be installed on your machine.

IIRC If I Remember Correctly which leaves scope for me to be wrong.

I know that some of their products jumped from version 2 to version 4 only one of their products got updated to version 3.  I upgraded from essentials 2 to editor 2 and then Studio 4.  From reading their site information they only ever released a version 3 of the Studio version of Melodyne.

I know that Melodyne doesn't want you to install it on two computers, while Sonar can be on two computers.

Melodyne can be on two computers.
Melodyne Studio is the only version that ever existed with version number 3. The others stayed at 2 and went straight to 4. If you have Melodyne Studio 3 it is significantly more advanced than Essentials 4 so I'd get rid of the latter.

Rendering the clips means selecting the Melodyned clips, right clicking and selecting "bounce to clip". This finalizes all Melodyne edits and then removes Melodyne from the clip, meaning it's back to being regular audio. It's the most fail-safe way to port over projects/audio.
